Either he doesn't understand that, or he is acting all friendly just for the sake of promo. But then again why would he say such a thing then? But it was for Russian press? But why would he promote himself acting like a homophobe? Is that really gonna make him more popular in Russia after ESC? I mean I know acting pro-gay would maybe hurt his future career, but why would acting homophobic help him? Atleast I don't see it helping him in ESC.

I completely understand why you all feel bad about this comment, but I should say that it is a common thing in Russia. You may not know but in The Penal Code of the USSR was an article stating that "being gay is a felony". People were sent to prison for that. So the whole generations of Soviet people were brought up with this attitude to gay people.
About Alexey's comment: I'm not sure if it is real or fake. The tabloid that published this "interview" (including the discussed statement and comments about his gf's ass) is definitely unreliable. After he was chosen as a representative from our country, there have been so many fake interviews and gossips in the Internet and newspapers, you can't even imagine.

I don't think Alex is gay what so ever, but if he was smart he shouldn't have said anything. I mean I understand the problem he could get with his popularity in Russia after ESC if he was acting pro-gays, but he could have just stayed neutral on the issue.
