Even though this is a tabloid I know that they take info from performers. They even mentioned his pr managers on a pic with a copyright. The interview is huge.
I will quote few sentences:

Yeah, it's just not acceptable. Noone is gonna harras Alex, a friendly compliment coming from a dude won't hurt him. I'm thinking maybe they are exaggerating what he said? I mean he was on Paul de Leeuw's show and Paul was pretty suggestive with him and he didn't seem to mind :?

Carola has after that statement tried to make up for it (atleast to the Swedish public). She's working with alot of gays and I dunno where she really stand on the issue, but knowing her background she was brought up in a "free church" family so that certainly has some impact for sure.
Anyways, back to Alexej. I know that Russia is quite a homophobic society, but he should have just shut is mouth really. I'm happy his entry wasn't one of my favorites from the get go anyways, and I am trying not to view Eurovision as a personally contest so my view on entries won't change because of what artists say, but it's still annoying knowing that Eurovision is a contest that do attract a large amount of gay fans.
Alexander Rybak also said some not very smart thing about gays, but atleast he didn't say something like this.

But that was a show, it was for promo. Also he got lost in translation, I don't think Alex understood all of Paul's jokes anyhow.
They aren't exaggerating simply because this is an interview and it's about his direct words.
Yep, society is homophobic and he can be afraid of showing tolerance to gays.
He can be a homophobe to one group of people and he can be gay-friendly to others. I have no idea what he really thinks but I don't like what he said.
