After a complete evaluation of the contest Eurovision Romania 2019, hosted by TVR, I decided to withdraw from the competition. Eurovision is the contest that gave me an artist aura in 2006, when I obtained the biggest score in the history of the country and the song "Tornero" was a sounding success in over 35 countries.

That motivated me throughout my musical career and showed me that dreams can come true, if you're willing to work for it.

I signed up for this year with the song "Baya", that managed to get to the semi-finals. I chose an uptempo song for this year because I was coming from 5 months of filming TCDU - a tv show from another TV channel, where I interpreted live more than 16 famous artists, with different style of voices, attitudes and personalities, so my voice was completed by success and show.

Since now I do not trust the objectivity of the organizers anymore, regarding the unclear situation about the participants - the ones that managed to get to the semi-finals and the ones that got favorised (by the wildcards) - I decided to withdraw. I cannot continue on a road with so many "mysteries".

Thank you to all the fans that always supported me and my music and I promise them that Eurovision will remain for me a story without end. "

A very dark day for Romania. I was just listening to Baya about an hour ago and now this news.

An emotional farewell but understandable. "Here are our finalists. One of them will be going to Eurovision....... *weeks later* oh wait, here's two more". I wouldn't be up for that. RIP Baya.

I think I will ignore Romania 2019 completely!

Afaik those were the rules from the start, so he's only having a problem with them now? He probably saw how much love Bella got after only 1 day and felt threatened

There's a rule to allow for random wildcards to be added onto the announced lineup at any moment? Weird, but ok. I agree that he probably did feel threatened but imagine how you'd feel if you set yourself up for a race, saw your competitors and got yourself mentally prepared, were close to starting the race but then an ostrich and cheetah were placed besides you? He's competitive and wanted badly to represent Romania at Eurovision again. I think he admitted that.

Not at any moment, there was a deadline to send an application to receive a wildcard until 10 January and, according to TVR, there were 9 applications. I get that it kinda sucks to get fresh strong competition all of a sudden after you made your battle plan but he should've been prepared for this tbh.

Yeah he reaaaaaaaallly wants to win. Same like Xandra and some others who take part every single year. I think he needs to take a break and reevaluate...well almost everything, cause right now he's a big joke.

Also Mihai withdrawing opening the path for Bella or Linda. xheat cya pet, see you again next year. However, didn't they say they'd pick a wildcard because someone else withdrew early on, and they needed to be replaced? I don't think it's such a big deal.
