I think it's pathetic that the EBU arent allowing them to participate in ESC 2016.
This has been an ongoing situation, its not something that has happened in the last few days. They should never have allowed their participation to go this far and so close to the contest. I know they missed the deadline yesterday, but surely with just 2 weeks til ESC week they should be allowed to take part. I don't think it is right to stop them from using the EBU services right away, they should have had a 'cooling off period' where they had 30 days or something to make plans and sort everything out instead of saying "ok you missed the deadline, top using everything now"
This is a sad day for Eurovision and for the first time in a while it has nothing to do with Christer Bjorkman (or does it...?

I feel sorry for the romanian team who was involved in preparation and for all the romanian fans. Maybe it's good it's been done now - it will bring a lot of attention and might force them to pay back the debt to not face the backlash from people in Romania.

Ok that's indeed shocking - not that I like the Romanian entry this year but still. I feel especially sorry for the Romanian Fans and Ovidiu!

Rules are the rules, I'm not going to argue that, but it is still a shame. I feel like this year's contest it's getting too serious for its own good, and Romania had the kind of song that was one of the closest thing to an old Eurovision it's slowly dissapearing: over-the-top, intense, corny but kind of charming on its own way.

It's really sad, but 8 years of not paying a single cent is enough. Afterall every country has some commitments - you can't use services without paying for them. I understand that the timing is awful, but noone here knows well wtf is going on and what was the exact reason that made EBU to take these drastic measures. It's not because they enjoy people suffering and have something against Romania - it's a very childish explanation. Surely there is something serious that happened in the last few months that lead to this outcome.

How insensitive. No matter how you feel about the song, it's a great loss to lose a country so near to the contest, and how can you not feel sorry for Ovidiu. Dreams crushed less than 2 weeks before rehearsals. Poor guy.

Rules are there to be imposed I guess. Bit gutted. It's one of my favourite entries this year. Why couldn't Russia have done something atrocious </3
I feel so bad for him as well. He's been prepared for rehearsals just to have his dreams snatched because of incompetence.

In addition to everything, semifinal 2 will be now even more plain and boring. Not that this song was really good, but it was polarizing at least.

Sure, the EBU had its just reasons for this step, but on the other hand the outside view is devastating. Kicking someone off is always an unpleasant thing to do.
And then, there is all the work and effort already invested in the entry this year - all in vain!

I would suggest to transfer one of the biggest favorites of SF1 to SF2. So that some of the great songs have a better chance to get to the final.

Anyway, it doesn't matter now, if they are not even allowed to broadcast contest.
As far as I know, Romania actually paid their free. I don't know how too, but yes.
