It should be all about the camera cuts and the chemistry.
However, it is a bit ridiculous. RTP is bringing to Liverpool excusable people...

Ngl, Portugals staging looks very good! From what I have seen it isn't that different from the NF, but the costumes definitely has more of a "red thread" now than in the NF and I think the stage in Liverpool will suit her song quite well! I dont think Mimicat will need some big prop to make a sexy cabaret show at all ;)

And yes - the prop comment was a teeny tiny shade throwing at Sweden because...well I am norwegian after all. It is to be expected. (Not throwing shade at Finland though, since all nordic countries have an unofficial agreement that winning is not necessarily important, as long as we beat the Swedes :ROFLMAO: )

So she basically said on the live that RTP's budget for the Eurovision performance is really really tiny and there wasn't much else she could do
Also the initial staging plans apparently fell through
What she said was that the leds that the production delivered isn't what they intended and that there is still work to do regarding the lightning and the cameras.
Is that you mean by the initial staging plans falling through?

I miss the NF staging to be honest. I liked the dress in the NF better because it was easier to spot. The black framed the red.
It also looked more cabaret in the NF which I liked. But it’s of course not their fault if there isn’t barely any budget. Mimicat will rock the stage, whatever the performance is like. I hope they will qualify! This is the song, alongside Finland, that makes me smile the most and I want to happy-dance. She‘s such a lovely person!

Yes, she talked a lot during her march/early april interviews that they had a concept where they would interact with the LED's on the stage in Liverpool

The delegation shared some clips from the today's rehearsal in a meeting room, you can check them in the instastories of @festivaldacancao.
A shot in these in these clips that looks like will be part of the choreo on the arena(I hope) is the camera following Mimicat through the runway, imho, it does look really good.

Am I the only one that is checking pretty good comments about our representation on facebook and Instagram? Even boomers seem to enjoy the song... Last year, it was not that good calling Maro horrible things. You know, facebook tabloids comments section.

It is not a big event, but it has interested from the public. Always gets good tv rates and we hosted the competition 5 years ago... it is all about the lack of budget from RTP, not the lack of interest from the public.

(And we do not need pyros, Mimicat)
That is a really stupid thing to say to be honest. Eurovision and FdC have been pretty popular since we won, and are easily among the most watched shows on RTP, and certainly the most talked about on social media.
The contest is always discussed on the media, before and after the events, and the FdC winner always gets a pretty big popularity boost.
It's really down to RTP being stingy with their budget.

Of course, but then... why they do participate in Junior Eurovision? Would not be better to save that money to our Eurovision participation?
Why are they taking so many people every year to the host city?
Well, they are great and I really do not want to blame anyone in particular, but it is kinda sad to see once again that there is any budget for absolutely nothing

You guys clearly did not understand what she was saying and it shows. The girl who replied to the post summed it perfectly. It is big here in terms of viewership and audience interest, but lets be real, it's definitely not something the government finds worthy of spending money on. The arts in general here suffer a lot due to the lack of funding. And that's a (sad) reality.
The performance doesn' need pyro but it is sad she's working with basically nothing.

Regarding the budget I had the same feelings between 2018 and 2019 and have made my peace, it is what it is, but I think you don't understand that appart from RTP not having the same budged of RTVE, the cost of staging a song is not always paid only by the broadcaster, a lot of times it is partially or, like what happened with Bulgaria in 2021, totally paid by the artist's record label.
It also may happen that the broadcaster has not budget to stage the song and a third party has to sponsor the cost, Estonia 2018, and if there's no sponsor the artist can create a kickstarter campaign to raise the necessary funds, that was what Australia did in 2019.
I do think that the portuguese delegation should try to get some sponsors next year, the lack of peanut butter or energy drinks in our nf is alarming, but again, it is what it is.

I got what she was saying right away-and that really is a shame. Its something I recognise in the UK too surprisingly enough-theatre/the arts suffer alot of cuts.

Mimicat is doing the best with what she can I think, with solid vocals-and I'm hoping she'll Q on the night! Just sucks I can't vote in semi 1-otherwise I'd be throwing alot of those at her.

The LED shows in the past 2 years seemed pretty good to me. She herself said the vision they had for the backdrop did not materialise due to some unspecified issue with the onsite production and they are trying to work around it. Which means they did have a plan for the LED show all along and they didnt go unprepared.

Given the conditions, I really hope they can work out a satisfying solution, because after seeing that clip of 2nd rehearsal I was not that impressed.

PS: I dont agree with her when she says that Eurovision is not a thing in Portugal, but she's right when she says you dont
need to fill up the stage with props to get a good show (look at Georgia - minimal use of props).

There's a new video on festivaldacancao's instagram, Mimicat confirmed that things regarding the leds aren't as they were supposed to, so yeah, my hope of seeing Portugal in the final has vanished...
