I
Most of the snippets shared on TikTok today are not showing the LED backdrops. That must be on purpose.
Since they need to be approved by each delegation before getting published, they probably want to keep it under wraps for the time being.

The sofa was scrapped because it would look tiny on such a large stage and minuscule next to tall LED walls.
I have not noticed any lack of investment in the staging from the broadcaster in recent years.

As for me, I think this is the best dress she ever worn on stage for this song.
I love the dress. It's gorgeous. Vast improvement on NF styling.

My dog threw up at 00:20 so I spent 2 hrs cleaning and nurturing him. Now I can't sleep so I have time to write what I thought of this rehearsal.

Firstly, we didn't see much today so maybe we're all making assessments too early.

But, for now, I can say that I love this song, but I didn't like how it was presented on NF, and now I feel almost nothing about this ESC staging.

It reminds me a lot of Albania's 2021 minimal red staging only with dancers added.

Also I'm not a fan of the dress, but that's personal taste in clothing every woman has, and I'm not colorful at all.

What worries me is the combination of:

A) a song that is likeable, but it's also a jazzy cabaret tune we have heard many times. It's almost cinematic, like movies music we have overheard while watching TV

With

B) Staging that is happy and vibrant, but doesn't stand out

With

C) Early running order.

If Portugal turns out a qualifier, what I doubt presently, that could only be a borderline happy chance.

For what I’ve seen, Portugal had the best rehearsal yesterday. I think removing that couch and making the performance simplier has been the best decision. I really hope this qualifies, it’s a pity Spain is not voting in this semi.

From the little I could see I liked it much better than in the national final, although I've never been a fan of the cabaret concept. It now looks modern and fresh while at the NF it looked old fashioned and tacky. They finally have got the dresses right. I believe the whole stale feeling from the NF is gone and it doesn't look cheap anymore.
Now I hope they get the camera angles right. There's no feedback about them and with the new rules by the time there will be it's gonna be too late. I'm frightened, as they usually don't get it right very often.
Mimicat is very charismatic and needs some proper close ups, it can't be all long shots to show off the stage.
Anyway, I think this is one of the best songs Portugal has ever sent, along with Senhora do Mar e Amar Pelos Dois, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

After watching all the content from the rehearsals, it is pretty easy to say that our we have the cheapest staging of the semifinal 1.
RTP does need to understand that we need to get money for our participations.

Yeah, it's definitely the cheapest alongside Latvia's. Wouldn't be shocked if ours was actually the cheapest of them all. Maybe we have VFX on screen? But yeah, it seems like RTP is still a hag when it comes to hand money to our participations. It honestly shocks me how countries that are far poorer than us, most of the time have far more creative stagings than us.

Agreed, from the photos it looks like a big upgrade from FdC. Considering how great the camera angles looked in both 2021 and 2022, I think this year won't be an exception. The delegation seems to know what they're doing.

They are really talented. And believe me... they are cooking omelettes without eggs. The budget is minimal.
If we qualify to the final, nobody will talk about that, but still...

Mimicat is going live on instagram at 7pm (pt time). She will reveal some details of the staging. That is for sure.

They are really delusional because of the lack of funding.
It is kinda clear.

And seems that there are LEDs and they are not working amazingly well. It is happening with other delegations.
They are confident. However, Mimicat is a bit afraid of the other acts. She was impressed by the Israeli rehearsal.

So she basically said on the live that RTP's budget for the Eurovision performance is really really tiny and there wasn't much else she could do
Also the initial staging plans apparently fell through
