Yeah ok but what is this supposed to do there? I mean people can get upset about it, but if you don't understand Portuguese it's just impossible to connect to this for the vast majority of the audience and there's no way to fix it.
You have a point, also his kind of music isn't mainstream enough to gather many votes

Surely Barbara has way bigger potential than Jimmy P in Rotterdam. Jimmy P could end up with NQ. Barbara would be a safe qualifier.

Kady and Jimmy P are sure qualifiers. Caracol probably too, juries will vote for it. The rest I'm not sure.

Among the qualifiers of the 1st semi and all songs from 2nd semi, my favorite is Movimento.
I knoow it's a long shot, but I want them to win.

I might be biased, but at this point, considering how semi-final 2 is shaping up to be, I think Bárbara and Elisa would easily qualify to the final. Dúbio and Throes + The Shine pontentially too, depending on the staging in May.

I agree. ESC SF2 looks already weaker than SF1.

I agree in part, the best of music is undoubtedly the lyrics ... would be forgotten in the ESC

You are both forgetting that Italy 2018 and 2019 exist. They can display the lyrics on screen/the LEDs. They can play with the staging to convey the messaging of the song.

It may be because I have only seen this semi, but this is the only song of the night that can actually do something in May.

You even have Hungary 2017, another (partial) rap number that had no lyrics on screen and finished top 10 on melody and staging alone.

Well let's not compare a song made up of 3 minutes of rapping with a song where rap is present only during 10 to 20 seconds.

There is certainly an argument to be made that the staging can try to fix the problems, but I don't think it's possible. There has to be an actual song there. Soldi really had a lot of melodic quality to it, it was thoroughly enjoyable even if you didn't understand the lyrics at all. They tried to fix a problem that didn't exist, in fact I thought the English lyrics were slightly cringy.

The song was still entirely not in English. There's enough proof that song in a foreign language can do well.
