it's not an issue of qualifying or not actually. it just... doesn't make sense audience-wise. I mean if the isolated semi 2 fave is performing first why would I watch the rest knowing it's weak?

not the same thing but there was a show here with an artist who had two well known songs. he decided to play them first and right after the second one people started leaving lmao

Actually the big name at semi 2 is Jimmy P, he is arguably the one with more fans in Portugal and a lot of people will tune up just to see him perform., I wouldn't be surprised if he wind the televote on semi 2

Honestly, I can't imagine a scenario where Jimmy P will not win the televote on the 2nd semi. He is the most known name and his song really stands out after all the others.

oh i'm talking about acclaim of eurofans. i know jimmy p is famous there but there has been way more praise for cegueira (at least in every eurovision group i'm in - the portuguese one, the brazilian one and the international ones.

agree thar he will likely win the televote of semi 2 (i can see a lot of jury tanking tho)

Do you predict the same for my Jimmy P!? xlove xheart

The only incognita in the semis is who are the judges, his kind of music isn't popular with older people, but being that the song has gospel singing we can say that it will end up in the top 4 of the judges and winner of the televote(or at least top 3)

Not really!
It is one of the most beautiful things I heard live in any concert..It was perfection, those backings, her vocals smooth like silk, still powerful.. xbow It is unforgetable..

I really cant wait for the Portuguese shows to start! I expect being very satisfied with the winner of FdC this year. I mean, surely this cant go wrong?
I wouldn't be disappointed by either Rebellion, Cegueira, Medo de Sentir or Passe- Partout going to Rotterdam.

Even though I am learning portugese at the moment, I am rooting for Rebellion. Although it's in english, is has a distinct and very portugese sound to it - I love that fact that they use the sound of the portugese!

I am expecting a great performance by Blasted. I really want Portugal to do well again in the ESC and think Blasted is their best choice.

Semi final jury, personally I love the jury, the best ever of Fdc (very diverse unlike other years)

about the jury

Anabela and Conan Osiris, representatives of Portugal at the 1993 and 2019 Eurovision Festival, respectively, are part of the panel, together with the composers Capicua, Héber Marques and Miguel Ângelo, who participated in the last editions of the contest. The announcer Isilda Sanches and the critic Rui Miguel Abreu also occupy a place in the semifinals jury.

with this jury, I see Blasted and Throes + The Shine doing well .... while barbara will not be very high in this jury (I would say 3 or 4 classified)

And "Agora" too maybe?
Sorry to say, but "Agora" wil stay in the semifinals, semi 1 is to strong for it to suceed.

Also a new thing: unlike previous years, the scoreboard of the semis will only be revealed after the grand final and the qualified song will be announced randomly

I love this jury. I also love that Júlio Isidro and his way conservative taste of music isn't a part of it anymore.
The decision to not fully reveal the semi-final results is also great. Wether we like it or not the knowledge of what happened in the semis always ends up influencing the votes in the final. Plus, this way the suspense will be kept until the very last minute of the final show. I could realistically see Bárbara, Elisa or Blasted Mechanism winning it, and we won't know who has the edge until the very end.

A Bridge Too Far
I don't understand the hype for Rebellion. I've listened to it a couple of times now and I simply don't get it. I'll just overlook the worthless production in the lyric video, that's obviously not their fault, but aside from that there's still so much wrong. It's like a very bad Muse song with worse lyrics. The vocal lines in the chorus are literally just yelling.... I mean, if you transpose this song into any other style it's immediately obvious that this song is utterly useless. Why do people like sub-par things when it's rock?

I agree that the song has some problems, the main one is that the second half of the song is the same as the first, it kinda works because in the bridge between first and second half the lyric says "Don't stop now you're having fun " and it feels like some kind of musical edging... Still, it needs a bit of polishing and unfortunately I doubt that there will be a revamp if they win.
The thing you pointed out about the chorus I don't agree, because the song was made to be sung at a big arena and the chorus is made so the public will sing with them, in the studio version the chorus doesn't work that well because there is no public with them.
Also I don't agree that it is a bad song because it would not work in another genre, most songs can't be covered in another genres, a jazzy cover of "Hatrid Mun Sigra" would not work nor "Love is Forever" as a metal song. "Rebellion" has a particular message and this genre is the best way to people to understand it.
I respect that you dislike the song, it will not be everyone’s cup of tea( no song is) and I don't think that it is the best song ever nor as masterpiece, but it is the best that Portugal could send this year and it will bring some variety to the contest.
