Man, that's pretty gutting. Salvador could have really shone in the 2nd half.

They surely won't put him on too early... unless he didn't do that well in the semi :/

I'm curious to see where Portugal will be placed since they already performed late in the running order of the 1st Half of the Semifinal 1
But it would be fun if they keep the 9th slot

If it is to win it may be in the first half or in the 2nd half (honestly, I do not know what the difference is)

i mean the problem isn't so much the first half itself as it's the fact all the current contenders are first half so far. what if kristian draws first half too? what will ebu even do lol

Seems likely, only 3 spots on the 2nd half are available now

There's no reason to count Salvador out of contention just because of the first-half draw! Two of the last three winners have come from the first half, and so far there are no big favourites drawn into the second half anyway. I'd say Sweden's not a likely winner at this point, with mediocre vocals and chart performance; France has disappointed with staging, based on rehearsals; the UK seems really impressive, but surely staging and live vocals can only carry a middling song so far. There's still every chance that we'll see Portugal fighting for that top spot, especially based on reactions today in social media, iTunes charts, etc.

Semi-related side note: the performance went down really well in my household of four! Previously my parents had disliked the song based on its studio version, and my sister hadn't heard it but I thought it wouldn't be her sort of thing... but both parents said today that, yes, he had a very emotional performance that elevated it, Dad said he was really good, and my sister had it as my favourite of the semi. A better reception than I'd expected, and if that's reflected across Europe as well, then... who knows?

The only thing I'm f***ing, is stupid
I got especially worried that Azerbaijan and Armenia got the first half. Hopefully, we will get crap qualifiers from semi 2 in the first half so that EBU can secure good spots for our favorites. xpray

Make a quick rule removing random first and second halves because they want as much suspense a possible. Along with a made up reason for it.

By the way, that will possibly show us who won the semi-final, or who did better out of the ones in the 1st half. If Portugal is #10-13 and Armenia and Azerbaijan aren't, Portugal probably won semi-final 1, and vice-versa.

I just watched the performance on youtube, in the comfort and safety of my room, door locked. I totally focused on it and this time I achieved the glamorous Nina Bo'Nina Brown tear that I was hoping for as I watched this live.

Which is a lot better than the Farrah Moan weeping I experienced earlier on in the night.

The semifinal performances of "Suus" and "Maybe" just got slayed (and that's no small feat). I have a new all time favourite Eurovision performance. I never could have imagined this moment happening months ago, as I heard the song for the first time in it's national final. Straight away my heart ached for it and i'll never forget the first time I listened to it. I laughed, I cried, I gasped and I swooned in those three minutes. The fact it won the national final was almost shocking enough, and now a song in this style has just reached the final of Eurovision, and the hype just keeps getting stronger and stronger. It still feels like we're in a dream. This whole thing has really restored my faith in people, and has reawakened my love for jazz music. "Amar Pelos Dois" is for me the most beautiful Eurovision song ever, performed by the most sincere man. The piece reminds me of how beautiful and precious life is. Portugal has gifted Euovision their heart on their sleeve this year, and it looks like Europe is going to dine this Saturday. Let's get Portugal their first top 5 result.

Funny how the biggest songs so far (Portugal, Italy, Armenia, Azerbaijan) are heading to 1st half. Dear EBU people, we've come this far and we don't plan to soften. Look at your heart and be friendly to us!

Well, but what if Sweden won?

We're past top 5. Anything other than a win would be a disappointment.

For all those dismissing Salvador because of the first half draw...every single favourite is also in the first half, so it likely won't make any difference.
