Congratulations to Portugal on this long-overdue win (not least such a landslide result)! :D It wasn't my personal favourite (not even in my top 10), but I really appreciate its qualities as a song, and I appreciate the singer and songwriter. I think their finish together after the voting was one of the sweetest and most memorable moments of Eurovision for me since I've been watching :)

It's pretty disappointing that some people have behaved so badly about this winner just coz they don't like it/find it cool/find him to be a "pop star"/whatever reason... it took so much for this guy to go up there and do his thing (let alone win), I have so much respect for him.

I'm considering going to Lisbon next year, it would be my first trip to Portugal and my first trip to Eurovision so it could be cool :p

Anyway, once again congrats :pt:

"Amar pelos Dois" is currently in 8th place of Worldwide iTunes Song Chart. Mans peaked at 9th and Conchita at 10th.

So much for this song not being chartable and a step back for Eurovision

Ha, in Germany he beat Helene Fischer in those charts! Yes! Now go for her in the albums charts! "Excuse me" is already 5th her. Wow!

I'm seriously considerating booking a room/appartment in Lisbon NOW, without waiting for anyone or any news and without having a single idea about how my life will be in one year xheat

I'm slightly worried so many people say they going. I hope there are enough hotels.

Lisbon is a quite touristic city with many accomodation places. If there were enough hotels in Kiev, Malmö or Baku, I don't think there will be any problem there :D

RTP is proudly exhibiting the mini version of the trophy on every opportunity they get  They had it on the table during the evening news and then they showed it off on Got Talent Portugal

Please do come to sunny Lisbon! I want to meet as many people from this forum as possible next May xheya

Yes, this! I would love to come over to Lisbon with a friend! We were discussing it as a serious thing when we watched on the television that our combined favourite Salvador won. I was saying that I'll have some helpful contacts in this forum, and so it seems! :p

I couldn't say more that hasn't been added to the forum, but I feel so sublime seeing that such an eccentric, genuine song is being appreciated by people both inside and outside Eurovision. I was so happy to see my friend, who is known for loving all things that are glitter, fireworks and sequins in this show, stop dead in her tracks despite her initial confusion of this song, searched up the lyrics and fell in as complete love with the song as I did.

Imagine this dedication: we both had a hardcore Swing ball dancing up to midnight leading up to final. We then spent 2 hours relistening to the Grand Final songs, then watched the final on TV at 5am after a 1-hour nap.

The forum was down, which prevented me from celebrating with you all in this forum. Regarding his speech, radio-stations are increasingly dominated by major music companies such as Sony, Universal that are more concerned with making music that makes money than on promoting the variety of their artists. They use the repetition effect to force people to like songs by overplaying them on the radio. Spotify in fact doesn't do as much for artists as may first seem. I highly recommend reading these two articles to give another perspective on the current music industry- its kind of where I first got started.

If you do happen to read them, do let me know what you think :)

I don't know if it was said before, but under the old voting system Portugal would have broken two records: the highest points ever (417!!!) and the highest amount of top marks received (20). We would have beat Norway (Rybak in 2009 with 387) and Sweden (Euphoria and its 18 top marks).

If I was told this one year ago, I would have slap them in the face and would have told them that I hate April fools' day :D

YES! And there is a voice over that says: Thank you Salvador!

And yes, the song is also played during the "special news broadcast" and the prime-time news program when they are talking about eurovision. So yeah, 30 minutes of Amar pelos dois in loop.

Hahaha woah! If only Norwegians had been that crazy when Rybak won
Although, he could barley get out of the airport

Yes, we've heard that now *pouts*

Haha, I am jk! I don't care that you broke our record and I doubt Alex does either. He clearly loves the song and after 49 times as a loyal contestant in the eurovision it is so deserved :)
