TBH I don't see many differences between Yola's studio and live version. In the end it's just a song that relies only in her vocals. Nothing else.

Is there any studio version of Leonor's song? I'm crossing my fingers it fixes what I didn't like live xcrossed

Exactly. It's not as if Yola had any major vocal problem yesterday. Leonor is a very different story, I imagine her studio version to be very much improved indeed.

Yeah. Anyway, it's the real production of the song what I'd like to know, instead of what that live band played.

Found this video of Yola at the bar where she apparently sings.
She's great, much much better than the song she was given.

xfaint This is incredible news. I'm listening to her old entry now. Yet another hidden gem from Portugal. From going backing in time, I think they are one of the greatest ESC countries. I constantly find myself charmed by their older songs.

Oh my... this is Simone seven years ago. Sensational.

I was unsure whether to watch Germany choose tomorrow or Portugal's second semi. I think now that my mind is made up. Germany has had my favourite NF for two years running, but I don't love a single one of their songs this year. My first experience with Portugal's NF the other day was a magical one. I fell in love. Beautiful songs, charming performances and even incredible medley's. Tomorrow we get both Simone de Oliveira and the Indian woman you and I have both been getting excited for. I cannot miss this show. Simone could have something extraordinary. I just feel it.

I can't believe it. I too was drawn to the same video and shared it with you at the exact same time. Mine just arrived a few minutes later as I was writing more about it.

Portugal 1969 is one of the best ESC songs EVER (voice, interpretation, FACIAL EXPRESSIONS, EMOTIONS, composition, music, instruments on the stage, green dress, haircut) and also one of the best songs generally! That performance is smth I can't describe with words, the way she lifts her arm in the end of the performance gives me goosebumps, I never saw smth similar TBH! xfaint

I think the music of "Frozen Silence" is beautiful, but I really can't stand the way the girl sings. I just cannot get past her voice. Maybe I like Laing a bit but i'm not hyped. You just made my choice so much easier though by showing me Simone de Oliveira. I think she's wonderful and i'm so intrigued now. I'm eager to watch her performance.

O, how I wish I could find the quote from January/early February in which you called "Love Injected" "screechy." Trust me: you'll come around to "Frozen Silence."

I did, but (from my memory) I still complemented the songxqueenbitch:lol: It was something I knew was interesting straight away but I just needed time to adjust to Aminata's voice. I'll never come round to "Frozen Silence" in the same way i'll never come round to "A Monster Like Me'. I can't stand singers that inflect their words in such forceful, fake ways:(

I believe the difference between studio and live versions production/arrangement wise will be just like Yola's: hardly perceptible :|

Well, based on the quality of the 1st semi, i'm tempted to go with the German Final instead of this...

I also lost all enthusiasm for our national competition. Even the RTP woman writing the rehearsals' reports is lacking the energy to pretend there's anything coming anymore.
I really can´t imagine why a grown up person would want to sit through another 6 amauterish and uninspired litle tunes that only found the light of day because something had to be there. Come to think of it, can't imagine why a child would want to do it either.

It's not even the quaintness of the whole thing I dislike. I could live with quaint. It's the lack of any sparkle, any twist in things, any surprise, any small twinkle of talent or taste, any turn of the imagination. Some kind of risk. As if they were playing it safe!

It's all as sad as it is preposterous. Last time round, I realised I was actually sweating with shame while listening to adelaide ferreira, that's just how bad that was. I just don't need to upset myself xshrug

Sadly, I'm not into the German songs, so I'm not very interested in that either. Truth is, all these NFs thing can get a bit too sickening once you've got too much of it

But at the very least, I can get "it's not beige," right?
