I left the streaming on and for some reason I ended up watching Portuguese "Who wants to be a millionare". Didn't know this show still existed

Back to the FdC. Leonor is the only choice so far. Great, strong verses, but bland chorus and weak singer. So I hope for a better second semi.

At least it worked on Twitter. We'll see the ratings tomorrow.

I got serious Rodgers & Hammerstein vibes from Yola; I'm liking it a lot.

"Outra Vez Primavera" is the only ballad in competition this year that isn't making the slightest effort to seem relevant or apologize for being a ballad (France possibly excepted), and, perhaps by complete accident, it's fantastic.

Actually it is not a ballad, it's fado. Contrarily to the general belief, Portugal never had fado in eurovision before, not the real thing that is, only slight adaptations.
This is it now xshrug

Please, we want your Fado Portugal. Yola's song would most likely become my new number 1 of the year.

Latvia and Portugal. Who knew?

I knew as I always liked these countries anyway, even when they weren't sending my favourite songs of the yearxlove As soon as I lost Valentina and Albania made a massive mistake, I knew i'd be looking in the direction of Latvia and Portugal to save mexyes that's actually a lie, I really had no idea this would happen. Latvia were my number 2 though last year. Portugal haven't chosen yet also. I really hope for Yola.

Are you actually serious? Well perhaps my Fado virgin ears are biased. This is my first time (excluding the Fado in a private message I seem to recall you sending me once), so for me it was a special experience. The one thing I wasn't certain on was the colour of Yola's voice, but she seems an incredibly strong, passionate singer, so I got wrapped up in the emotions of it all. I thought it was wonderfulxcry1

Yes Hyacinth, I am serious, but I'm glad you're happy about it ;)
I realise a foreigner's ears will have a different perception but the truth is the first time I heard it I thought it was appalling, ordinary kind of voice and all against the general expectation, and it was with disbelief I learned of its qualification. I've listened to it since and I rearranged my appreciation :it's really not as bad as that, but it is still very far from special.

I've been reading around and people seem to like it well enough around here, but song number 2 (the hot chick, or the beige one if you like ;)) is clearly the favourite. I sort of like it too, but just wish her voice would be stronger.

More to come on thursday, so we'll see xsalute
