Re: PORTUGAL 2014

When will we hear the songs?

Apparently they will only be revealed in the day of the semi-final, unfortunately. Hopefully they will become available in the previous week though, either by RTP releasing snippets or by the rehearsals being released.

Re: PORTUGAL 2014

To be honest, I wasn't looking forward to Festival da Canção this year, but I hope it turns out to be good. I was fuming when I learned about the show. This could have been the perfect opportunity - Portugal's return - to avoid any misstep, any bad choice. I don't know what's the deal with RTP, really. Instead of hiring so many producers and performers, they should have selected only one entry internally. It's easier and cheaper. They don't need to do this show every year as if it's the best damn thing in the world!

I will only vote because they changed the rules. The national jury is a mess and they should have been removed completely, but at least the televoters have the last word this time. That's a relief! :)

Exactly what I think. It was the perfect oppurtonity to start again, but RTP just went back in the old ways NONO
I still have some hope we'll have great songs in the show, and that we'll end up with a great entry in Copenhagen.

I am excited for Portugal! Maybe their best ever result will come this year? (It's not hard!)

They'd have to achieve a Top 5 which isn't easy!

Oh it is, very hard
If it was easy for us to have a top 5 result we would have had one already. We've had plenty of time :D

And it's much harder now than it was before with so many countries competing. But seeing as we already have 12 entries selected for this year, and reactions towards most of them are quite bad, I think Portugal can at least enter the top ten, with the right song. Let's just hope the composers and the performers do their job!

Yes, this far it seems the year to do it for Portugal! Let's hope they come up with a great entry. I would like some modern, up-tempo entry with a slight portugese feeling to it!

Is RTP just trying to fill time slots for shows?

I do agree with what you said that they should have just gone with the internal selection route! ESPECIALLY when we look at the "quality" of the past few FdCs

On a different note: I hope Catarina Perreira brings fierce to FdC!

Re: PORTUGAL 2014

Luís Castro, RTP manager, wants Portuguese emigrants to be able to vote for their favorite song in the national final. They are currently trying to find the best way to make it possible. I would love an online voting allowing foreigners to participate, not only RTP viewers.

This is getting so exciting! I'm tired of being a skeptic and I really hope this show becomes a game changer. They are already trying new stuff which is great.

They do not change crucial stuff! ;)

Thats not always good - while it allows foreign fans to pay closer attention to the process and have a say, Internet trolls have been known in the past, to hack the votes and vote thousands of times for the worse entries. Usually resulting in a terrible song selection and many good ones lost at the online vote.
