Someone uploaded Michal´s X Factor audition with English subtitles. Interesting to see the change of audience´s reaction before and after his performance. I really hope that something similar will happen in Eurovision.

Eurovision audience is more tolerant so hopefully they will be more mature Conchita was more controversial but thankfully everyone respected her and she wasn't laughed at. Michal will probably be fine.

Btw, before I have seen this video (and some more from Michal´s more effeminate days), I seriously thought that the frequent comparisons with Conchita Wurst were mainly caused by his surname, since I believed that "Szpak" means "ham" in Polish (I derived it from Czech word "špek" which means the same). Then I noticed some youtube comment ("rozjebał jak szpak czereśnie") and realized it actually means "starling" (in Czech "špaček"), the cherry-eating bird. Another example in already long line of confusing similarities between Czech and Polish words with different meanings...

Personally, I don´t see so much Conchita in him. If I should describe Michal´s performance - and appearance - to someone who is blind and deaf, I would probably say something like "imagine a yodelling hippie Jesus with Polish accent, disguised as captain Hook". Definitely not "he is like Conchita".

I agree that he is nothing like Conchita. He is perhaps a bit camp and feminine but that doesn't make him a drag queen! Some people even suggested he is a transgender woman but I am pretty sure he said that he identifies as a man.

There are many funny misleading false friends between these languages I think the best one is Polish word 'szukac' which is a bit similar to Czech word 'sukat' Both sound similar but their meaning is... well, quite different

Hah, that's true, there is a lot of words from Czech Republic that sound very funny for Poles and from time to time I can found articles about it on the internet of Facebook.
