Re: POLAND 2014

EBU extended the deadline so we wait more ;)

We'll wait until the last day of the deadline in January to get a short message from TVP explaining that for whatever reason the EURO 2012 still give them a low budget for ESC

EBU and their deadline malfunctions xcrazy
So, in practice, the REAL deadline for ALL countries is the January one? So what was the November one? A hoax? xcrazy

First of all November was never a final deadline to begin with (December usually is), I'd call it more a desperation on behalf of the EBU rather than a hoax

Re: POLAND 2014

I'm happy EBU are flexible and because of crisis and financial troubles they let some countries (not nessesarly Poland here) to try to find sponsors and make it happen for them. I don't know if it will work and they will participate but bravo for the effort. In theory they could strictly follow the deadline and we would have less countries, then people would be saying "Eurovision is getting smaller".
With us it is/was a will or not of participation itself. If TVP are on plus with money like it was written on internet, I think they can find money for internal selection (it's cheaper) and we're going to Denmark not some country far away.

They are just ridiculous. Come on, they have money for their "public mission" and don't have it for our country's promotion in Europe? The new deadline of EBU is indeed good for many public broadcasters, but not in our case. I'm 80% sure TVP just doesn't want any protests and they will not do anything until January (I don't believe we'll get any information next week) and then they'll lie that they don't have money.

A decision on the possible TVP’s participation in ESC 2014 will be taken by Board of the Polish public broadcaster, which gathers every Wednesday till late evening. If they decide this week, we may expect a press release on Thursday. According to Jacek Rakowiecki, TVP spokesperson, everything will be clear this week or next one at the latest.

I know it's somethin they'd do normally, but I think they changed attitude a bit this year (If I read correctly, spokesman of TVP changed and is more positive towards ESC). Last year we were withdrawn at this time with another stupid excuse and now we're getting some news from inside that particpation is considered. Like I said few pages back: it's really a step forward. I don't know if we will be in or not, but I'm trying to find some positives here since there is some change in their behaviour.

Believe me if I could I'd cancel for example "M jak Milosc" and "Klan" imediately. It's like with Perfect song "Niepokonani"
"Trzeba wiedzieć kiedy ze sceny zejść niepokonanym"
Those TV series had their peaks and were good back in past, but should be cancelled and well remembered, instead of attempt to beat "Bold and Beauty" in terms of lenght  Now like you say they're waste of schedule time and money for stars (those who are still on the shows). To me it is better to go out with class or a bang than be remembered as show that lasted way too long and jumped the shark.

I also still hope we'll be in. It's 20 years since our debut in ESC so it would be nice to celebrate it. That's why I have this particular avatar ;)

Re: POLAND 2014

Yes! Our entry from 2011 "Jestem" was so amazing :(

It was! One of the best songs that year (although it was a generally weak year... which on the other hand makes it even more sad that it flopped), and one of Poland's best entries ever... actually the best Polish entry since 1998 imo.

Yes, the live performance went a bit messy (but also due to technical difficulties with the sound it seemed) and I still don't get why she insisted on choosing the first spot when she could have chosen any really.

Re: POLAND 2014

Poland had been brilliant in its very first tries, maintaining a decent balance until 2005, however, the stuff they sent in the following years was all more or less abdicable IMHO.
In case they come back I'd wish to see more artistic rather than poppy efforts from them.
