The women's soccer team won bronze after defeating Brazil 2-1, and Eric Lamaze got another bronze in individual jumping in equestrian! Another good day for :ca: so far!

Aaaaaand another 4. place in the 4x100m relay
Sorry to say this but it's ridiculous that the US-girls were able to start in the final ... I was checking the replay again and again and tbh I saw no valid reason to give them a second chance - they fucked up and it wasn't the fault of anyone but them.... but hey, it's the USA, ofc they get a special treatment (anyone else would have been disqualified) IOTAP

Congratulations Katerina ;)

Wild night on the track! Canada initially finished 4th in the men's 4x100 relay behind Jamaica, Japan and the USA, but the Americans were disqualified for a lane violation, meaning Canada moves up to bronze! And they're a young team, so they will definitely get better in time for Tokyo 4 years down the road

(That makes up for the bronze lost in the 50k race walk, the Japanese appealed the Canadian appeal and got the medal back from Evan Dunfee)

That gives Andre De Grasse 3 medals in his Olympic debut - the future of sprinting is in good hands! :ca:xup

Greece took 6 medals overal, it's a nice result, if we consider that in London we had only 2, and in Beijing 4. Actually, this result is our 5th best result in Olympics, after 1896, 2004, 2000, 1996.

two days before the Olympics are over I proudly present...

The Wooden Medal Ranking

01. ::na 27
02. :us: 20
03. :de: 15
04. :uk: 14
05. :ru: 11
06. :it: 10
06. :au: 10
08. :jp: 9
08. :nz: 9
10. :fr: 8
10. :nl: 8
10. :es: 8
10. :ca: 8
10. :ua: 8

There is the confirmation... we won more wooden medals than any other medal  Now as I know this I can finally wallow in self-pity and cry myself to sleep tonight

As expected China is dominating here. Now one can understand the relatively bad medal record of China... apparently they were a bit unlucky in Rio!

I will update this when the Olympics are over

We still have excellent chances to improve in this ranking (Javelin, Handball, some canoe events)

GOOOOOLLD IN MOUNTAINBIKE! Jenny Rissveds, a very promising cyclist that we have high hopes for in Tokyo 2020....but SHE GRABS THE F*CKING GOLD ALREADY! So so happy for her, only 22 years old and basically slay all the faves!

Now we only have one swede left, Sofie Skoog in the High Jump final, but doubt it will be a medal there. So, as it looks now, 2 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals, one of our better olympics recently, lovely! :D

Again, another reason for us to celebrate together - Catharine Pendrel took bronze in the same event! Canada is now one medal away from breaking our all-time Summer Games medal record (now at 22 medals, tied with the haul from Atlanta in 1996)

Blanka Vlašić just won bronze in high jump even though she's barely walking. Amazing athlete! xbow That concludes these Olympic games for Croatia with a sum of 10 medals (best result ever 5 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze). Still can't believe this actually happened, like we're in top 20 of medal count.
