Morever, Laura and Kira destroyed them twice xheat These results are like two 7-1 in a row :D

It was fun to watch the competitions and would've been even without a german team being successful. Volleyball is simply the best

Silver medal for Greece in 10km open water swimming.
Congratulations to Spiros Gianniotis, the 36-years old athlete,
who competed for 5th time in Olympics, and had already 4th, 5th & 7th place in Olympics,
and many medals in World Championships, but no Olympic medals-until now, his last race of his life !
Spiros is half British (from his mother), and is the 4th oldest athlete -from 1896 to now- ,
who takes an olympic medal in swimming !

Now we have 12 gold medals, as many as Russia has. Would be amazing if we can beat them in the medal table... even though this Russian team is incomplete it would be still huge for us :p

Tbf, the only reason they're incomplete is because they've been cheating all the time... so you could say that this year things are more equal, and we see how they're falling behind based on talent alone ;)

13 xheat
But Russia is most like going to overtake us in the end - They're going to win at least 3 more gold medals (Synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics)

The Brownlee brothers making the UK proud in the Men's triathlon. Absolute domination from them. 20 gold medals for Team GB and still one more to be confirmed later today in the sailing for 21 gold medals.

Sure, I couldn't imagine a better result than 5th place beforehand. Beating one of :us: ::na :uk: or :ru: has never been realistic in my opinion.

I fear Japan might also overtake us :( (maybe I'm just being negative though...)
Edit: Our track and field athletes are really disappointing ...

A big day for :ca: today - 4 medals!

Gold for Erica Wiebe, who dominated her Kazakh opponent in the women's 75kg class in freestyle wrestling. Bronze for Meaghan Benfitto in women's 10m platform diving, bronze for Damian Warner in the decathlon, and now silver for Andre De Grasse in the men's 200m!

Total medals to date: 18 (equaling the total haul from London) with hopefully a few more to come in the next couple days

The performances of our athletics team is a fiasco :( Well, to be precise, the performances of our medal contenders. Some athletes just had a bad and unlucky season such as shot-putter David Storl and pole vaulter Raphael Holzdeppe, one could hardly expect a medal from them. Others however, did simply choke. Especially our female athletes in the throwing competitions were disappointing. So far we only have 2 medals in Athletics but there are still chances in the male's javelin (however I have a bad feeling here, I think Thomas Röhler will choke as well, I don't know what to expect from the other two germans in the final) and moreover underdog chances for female high jumper Jungfleisch. Our female 4x100m relay team can win bronze when the US ladies drop the baton again... other than that, I don't see many chances there

I think the the problem lays in the preperation. The German athletes put the emphasis too much on the European Championships that took place in July and they probably hope they are able to preserve their good form until the Olympics... I think it's a better idea to not take part in the European champion but better have a long and intensive preperation for the Olympics so they have enough time for fine-tuning of technical processes and stuff like that. Nobody cares for European championsship anyway.

Our medal records could look so much better if we didn't suck so much in the main sports Swimming and Athletics... It was always like this since I started watching Olympics in 2004.

After two nice bronze in Wrestling, by Jenny Fransson and Sofia Mattsson, we are looking forward a lot to this day. This afternoon, we have a good shot of a medal in the Horse Jumping competition with Peder Fredricsson. And also the grand final in Womens Football between Sweden and Germany. So high hopes tonight! :D

Evan Dunfee initially finished 4th in the men's 50k race walk, but was upgraded to bronze after a Japanese racer was disqualified for impeding his progress
