If we qualify for the final (which is very likely), and get first half, then I wonder what ORF would do since our performance take some time to prepare, do they really dare to give us #1 or will they in that case give us #13 and use the commercial break directly before like last year?

If we get second half, their only choice for them to do (without inserting a new Commercial break) would be #27 but imagine the reaction among fans if that happen ;)

Well the thing is that Sweden does not really need special treatment. Rather the performance should be made to take less time to set up (that is potentially change it if it takes so long). For me arranging it so that 1 country has more time to prepare than the others is about as unfair to give let's say UK the chance to have a 7th person on the stage.

On the other hand is every country allowed to do performances that takes time to set up. So on one hand it is not unfair, but I still get your point

But if all countries have performances that takes as much time as for example Sanna Nielsens last year or the time it took for organizers to remove all snow from Loreens number, then the show would take forever. I think that EBU soon has to (if they don't have?) rules on how much time a preperation for a number should take, otherwise show will end the same time CET as the Australians will start watching it....

At that case every country should be allowed to have some small random thing which takes let's say 5 minutes to put together because it is made out of legos (or whatever) and that is never even shown on camera asthat would allow them to get better draw.

Some people reads my posts as the devil reads the Bible xfacepalm xfacepalm

Of course, it has to be a roof for this thing. But at the same time, no matter what EBU does, people will still complain about anything

Pawhlen Sorry if this is a stupid question, technologies are not my thing, but... What exactly is so complicated on the Swedish staging? I understand it must take more time during rehearsals (to adapt all the interactions between Zelmerlöw and the animated figures to the new stage), but before the show itself too? Why? They just put the black screen behind him and that´s it, isn´t it?

That was my thoughts too at the beginning.

But during the rehearsals for our final in Friends, it became known that the projector and the screen must be set perfectly in height between each other for it to work perfect without any reflections and so, and it´s that who takes time to set up (more than 30 sec since I don´t think the projector can be so low during the other countries performances)

Well, if it takes only about over 30 seconds, then I don´t think they necessarily need to prepare it during commercials. Before and after each act will be shown the postcard (30 seconds long if I´m right), some shots of cheering audience or jingles or Conchita chatting with someone in green room (this could be possibly extended as long as necessary)... Plenty of time.

It will probably be something like that,

for example in 2012, Eldar came in a few seconds directly after Loreens performance because they needed some time to clear the stage from all snow. And last year we saw that Lise came in because the stage wasn´t ready when it was :nl: turn

Sweden is hard to put. The performance is a problem for the time it needs. #1 is a bad idea (unless they don't want Sweden to win) because Heroes doesn't fit at all for a beginning, Moldova is better for example (they did for the SF btw). Just before the break it's perfect for me, i don't see it finish the show. if they pick second half… just after the break is not a good idea either. The best would probably be 3-4 before the end and with a up-tempo not so up before (Moldova again :D) and then…ORF have to deal with it and find a way to make it easier to prepare (like last seconds of the performance before is a shoot of the public, the last performer will be able to leave a lil' sooner)

If we qualify for the final and still are one of the hottest favorites, they will probably not give us #1 if we are in the first half (They rather want to make it more exciting I think), and our song is not really a party-opener.

They wouldn't alter the performance of another country to give Sweden more time because that wouldn't be fair. They will just add a short break if necessary. As long as nobody complains, there is no problem with giving a country extra time. Other countries could have opted for a more complex staging too. Of course not everyone could do something that takes extra time but apparently most countries don't have plans for such a complex staging anyway. What matters most to the EBU is a good show. Sanna's lights looked great, so the additional time to set them up was justified.

The only problem I can see is the running order possibly favoring countries that need more time. Following a break might give a country a slight advantage and coming up with a staging that takes time to set up shouldn't be a way to secure a better starting position. Of course these days it's up to the broadcaster to determine the order anyway, so that's part of a different problem, I suppose.
