Norway is such an enjoyable mess this year...

But honestly, this "Grand Final" should have been a 5 acts final - apart from "Give That Wolf A Banana" and "Death To Us", all pre-qualified entries sounds like NQs to me.

"Queen Bees" is horrible

Putting Oda first is like saying "We don't want that song to win". Sad! But for me, it's all the more a reason to cheer for that entry.

Nevertheless, the MGP final has at least five songs that I would be happy to see in Torino, and I'm sure they would qualify. An underestimated song like Northkid's is a better popsong than Tix' last year, in my opinion. And Made Of Glass is still the best or second-best power ballad I've heard in this year's Eurovision NF's.

I'm not happy that SubWoolfer are probably going to win this. I really can't stand the whole act. I was glad we left this stupid unfunny "lol so random" humour in the 2010s. It's like "What does the fox say" without understanding why that song is actually fun.

But I also want to point out another worst case: Christian Ingebrigtsen might not be completely chanceless. It's 100% televote and he is known in Norway as far as I understood and based in some polls his song is not that unpopular with a certain demographic? And he has a good spot in the running order as well.

I can already see the gold duel: Subwoolfer vs Christian. *shudder*

A few more thoughts about the Norwegian MGP-final this weekend.

I have listened more to all the songs in the final in the past few days and I must say I am mightily impressed by the standard of our final this year. I would actually go as far as to say that the Norwegian MGP-final 2022 is the best song wise final here that I have seen in the past 10 years I have at least 4 favourites that I would be happy with as winners and that never happens to me i MGP.

All of the following I would be happy with for Norway in ESC: 'Death of Us', 'Give That Wolf a Banana', 'Fly' and 'Hammer of Thor'. In addition I like several of the remaining entries as well and I would struggle to find an entry I would call really bad. Perhaps it's just my music taste, since I see some people on the internet are less impressed, but I also see others who agree with me that this year's MGP-final is class and one of the best around.

My favourites before the final: probably 'Death of Us' (strong ballad) and 'Give That Wolf a Banana' (hysterical stuff but mightily catchy and fun) but I would not mind at all if f.ex. 'Fly' (vibrant Nordic folk-pop) were to do an upset and win.

What will my countrymen vote for on Saturday? As I have said before, it's often difficult to say and we do see surprises sometimes. I think if Norway is in a fun, party-like mood and want something catchy, hilarious but great fun which stands out they will vote for Subwoolfer, but if people here instead want something more serious and more 'traditional' they will vote for Elsie Bay who had a strong quality ballad of the melancholic sort which Norwegians have always loved. My bet is on Elsie for the win (also because comedic entries in MGP though somewhat popular have rarely gotten enough votes to challenge for the win) but I would not be shocked if Subwoolfer conquered. And perhaps I am all wrong and someone else (a surprise) wins.. nothing is for certain in this game, that is for sure.

I wish all the Norwegian artists the best of luck in the MGP-final, I will (of course) be watching it on tv and be voting as per tradition. Will be fun!

What do you think about Wonder Of The World by Christian Ingebrigtsen?

I find it unbearably saccharine. It is so saccharine that it out-saccharines the vast majority of saccharine songs that I have listened to.

Queen Bees is a clusterfuck abomination. How did this lame novelty made it to the Final?!

Instead some actually cool songs did not make it like Ecstasy.


I have a soft spot for Someone by Northkid. I realise that it is nothing special overall but the chorus is simply charming and it is about as good as it gets as far as this more middle-of-the-road kind of music goes. Here it is pure, quite earwormy and unpretensious.

5 Hammer Of Thor - it is cool and Oda has a badass stage presence and voice but certainly I find it overrated, it is bit too empty and simple for me and she could have used more time here, it is only 2:45 long, if you want something really epic in this Viking vein then I recommend you a Norwegian band Leaves' Eyes - their highlights being songs like Meredead, Spirits Masquerade, Norwegian Love Song.

The telltale sign that Subwoolfer never was Ylvis is that Subwoolfer's song simply isn't funny, instead it just feels *very* forced. I think Hammer of Thor is much more fun as a kitsch entry myself.
