They shouldn't care but lets face it they do...its part of human nature to look at those things xshrug

That's why we have the Barbara Dex award and people always take about the fashion disasters

I think clothes matter when they're horrible (like the outfits of the Serbian girls last year). When they're 'normal' clothes, they don't matter.

But there's no reason to fight for Barbara Dex award. Iceland already won it by a landslide

Unless your perceived as being a slob xshrug

During the semi and final there were some pretty nasty comments about Carl's appearance raging from redneck to pedophile xfacepalm

Just a small observation for those people who don't like his voice. Sony Music signed him up after they heard him singing for only 15 seconds...how many singers has that happened to?
More details here: In Your Face Productions

Wow. That's a powerful fact.....

But I'm not really shocked or so tbh xshrug, the guy simply has 'IT'. This just shows again: you don't need to have extraordinary singing skills or a polished voice to impress. There are so many examples of mega-successful singers whose voices have often been critized (Patricia Kaas, Elvis Costello, Nick Cave, just 3 that come to my mind) and now the world can't do without them.

Sony made a wise choice.

I wouldn't be so sure about that after Emma's official video came out

Well, many people and many opinions in the world.
I never thought he looks like a slob. I thought he looks like a normal guy who happens to sing a beautiful song.

I'm shocked he isn't playing the piano. Nice and simple. I can see this being a massive winner with juries and viewers alike.

After a couple of listens, I do acknowledge this song's beauty although it's maybe "too American" for my tastes.

But a winner?! Nah!

To me, it sounds more 'English' somehow...it reminds me a bit of James Blunt's songs. Now, Running, the Hungarian entry, does sound 'American'.

His voice at the start of the second verse where he sings "Ask myself", it gives me shivers each time. His sincerity is incredibly touching. In some ways I think his voice would be better on an even simpler song.

"Silent Storm" gives me Perfume Genius vibes. Carl's kind of soft balladry reminds me quite a bit of him, although Carl's song is a lot bigger and commercial sounding in it's structure. The simple piano accompanied by the haunting shrieks of synth is very Perfume Genius. In fact people that enjoy Carl would be doing themselves a favour taking a listen to his music.

Silent Storms sounds to me like a good sketch, waiting for a skilled composer to turn it into an epic song by adding some color (an orchestra).

Speaking to DR, the Danish national broadcaster, Emmelie de Forest had this to say.

I think Carl Espen has an excellent song and an incredibly beautiful voice. I think Carl Espen is going to win it all in Copenhagen.

Norway has dropped to 3rd in the odds now. Still a favourite though.

And now that sounds British to me!!! I imagine the Hungarian entry bring a top 10 hit in the Official UK charts!

I like the way he sings, but I don´t like his song, so only 2 points for me...
