The vibe is still heated, but I do believe the Netherlands will there next year. Let's not forget the contest is very popular there and many people watch it.

But anyway, I expect AVTROS will ask for some significant changes within the EBU before they decide about 2025.

The Netherlands DQ based on little to no evidence atm Is a f*****g DISGRACE. United by music my ass! I won't change my idea 'til the EBU tells us effectively what happened backstage. They won't? Good. They should not think people forgives or forgets something like this. If AVROTROS will withdraw I'll totally understand their position.

I think the Netherlands will sit 2025 out, and who would blame them after the way they were treated this year by the EBU.

If Joost is cleared of any wrongdoing, i hope for an agreement between everyone involved that he's back in 2025 and already pre-qualified for the final

meh no
I don't think Joost will be back and he shouldn't. Personally I wouldn't like a pity pre-qualification for the final, that wouldn't do Joost, AVROTROS of any of the Dutch fans any justice imo.

I really want us to sit the 2025 edition out.

As if that is any consolation.

If I was Joost I would politely decline.

Me too. If this was a bullshit thing the only classy way to handle it is to just skip a year.

I wouldn't blame The Netherlands at all for pulling out next year, at least for the year anyway.

I heard someone else saying this but they should also demand back whatever money they gave the EBU this year for their participation. I don't know if that's something they can do...but if it's proven that the disqualification was unjust it should be possible right?

While I understand why they would pull out I really, really, really hope they don't and that some sort of compromise can be reached.

Honestly, I think the EBU really isn't taking the compromise route right now and I think that is a wrong decision, for us to possibly return.

I only want the Netherlands in ESC again if the EBU apologizes and admits their mistakes. I don’t need any promise to be in the final or a bag of money or a big 6. I don’t even need the resignation of people in the EBU. I just want an honest apology. It’s as simple as that.

But I don’t see it happening. At all. They are in full defensive mode. While still being greedy too. They deleted his name from everywhere. Participant list, etc. Netherlands and Joost were deleted as if they never existed. Only the youtube and tiktok videos of his performance are still online of course because those generate views. It’s disgusting.

Good! 4 minutes less of watching would do me good benefits. And I like that it all finishes earlier and doesn't last so long like sanremo, or never ending soap opera.

But I'm afraid they won't do it. I don't think that country ever skipped eurovision except during Corona pandemic but that year was cancelled for everyone. Maybe I am wrong, someone will correct me I'm sure if I'm wrong, but I am never wrong :)

Compromise? Why?

1. Firstly it would be so unfair to every other country. Like it would make even more mess and scandals and it would be unprecedented.

2. Joost did it himself. He could well behave and do like baby lasagna did. Not to put himself in any scandal, but if he got disqualified which never happened in history of 68 years of Eurovision before. That means he did something wrong.

3. So please don't make him a victim. Even police came so please be objective and not to see this from fan side. I guess you are his big fan so you can't see things objectively.

Wikipedia says four times:

The country has missed only four contests, twice because the dates coincided with Remembrance of the Dead (1985, 1991), and twice because of being relegated due to poor results the previous year (1995 and 2002).

Missing contest because of poor results doesn't count. It's like arsenal is in the bottom of table and rule is he can't play next season in premier league even though they want it badly. So they didn't boycott thing, it's just rules were back then you are not allowed to compete if you were in the bottom previous year. So basically 2 times is the answer. Last time in 1991. Next year will be 2025. I don't see a way they will skip it.

I literally don't like his song at all lol. Look for my posts in the netherlands 2024 topic; I literally gave him a zero because Europapa annoys the fork out of me.

1) that depends on the type of compromise

2) Yeah, Joost did something, he has always seemed off to me, idc, whatever exactly happened, I hope/believe everything will be fair and him being punished can be fair.

2) see above

I want the Netherlands to keep on participating because they've given us some gems in the past and I don't want the benelux gang to become incomplete again now Luxembourg is finally back. Because Flanders where I live has a lot of coproduction and culture sharing with the Netherlands, it's always like we've got two eurovision songs (Belgian entry and the Dutch Entry), and there being no Dutch entry would feel like something's missing.
