I didn't realize the song will be released today. Curious what it is, not expecting much to be honest. I honestly think I'd have liked "kinda crazy" Joost Klein as our Eurovision entrant better if it wasn't just the year after Cha Cha Cha being such a success -- seems to typical Dutch to wake up to the idea of sending something different than an emotional song with a story only now.

Putting that aside, I like that we aren't sending one of those again, but I guess an uptempo song, electronic/dance, would have been my pick for this year.

But let's see, maybe Europapa is anything I ever wanted from a Dutch Eurovision entry, can't properly judge yet ofcourse

This is the entry that scares me the most. Will it be the nastiest joke-ish entry this year, to the level it would make Finland actually tame? Or will it be damn catchy and I will actually like it against all odds.

Bring it on xheat

Song is dedicated to his deceased father, who told him the world is basically without borders and that you can figure out the world yourself. Also a tribute to Europe.

This should be counted as an ethnic song and Im not even joking that was absurdly dutch

It sure is incredibly Dutch yeah haha

It's cool, I actually got quite emotional at the last part as it's dedicated to his deceased parents, it is written as a letter to his parents to say that his parents will always be with him, but he cannot bear to drag grief with him the rest of his life.

As a Dutch entry to Eurovision, I'm like it but as an Eurovision entry it's nothing more than just "cool". I prefer it to Finland as crazy entry, but Switzerland is a much better song for example, so I don't think this will be as competitive as the Dutch selection committee thought it would be.

Joost Klein as Joost Klein is, I hope it will be a great experience for him.

It all depends on the performance how well it will do. Joost Klein is an excellent performer, given his past at Lowlands, Pinkpop etc. That can elevate the song to a whole other level. It's very Dutch though, but that's not a bad thing.

Honestly I expected something batshit crazy, this is fairly tame. The north European kinda humor (it reminds me of Norwegian joke songs) is a turn off but it's not bad. The moment at the end with his dad was kinda touching ngl

The kid is a talentless brat who makes lame, semi-funny party music. But the committee chose this from around 600 entries because it "had such tremendous hit potential". Seriously, where is it? The song doesn't even go hard and it's not funny at any level. The chorus is melodically weak and the harder "gabber" part at the end is something to be ashamed of. Nothing special here. You can do this kind of entry once, but it must be incredibly strong and ingeniously put together then. And that is not at all the case here.

It's the worst my country has send since Sieneke, maybe it's even worse. This fits perfectly in a year in which we also elected Geert Wilders.

:0: points.

This is... magnificent. At first I was a bit frustrated that the beat wasn't hard enough for a techno song of this style, but the end compensated more than enough for that.

It's also fascinating that Joost succeeds with transmitting the sadness of the lyrics in the melody in some way... Kinda lika Papaoutai which he also references. Would have made a bigger impact if it didn't compete the year after Käärijä, but a truly great entry! Douze points.
