I feel had NeonoeN's song been much more well received (or received at all even) by the fans then they would have let this slide. The EBU certainly would have I think seeing as they allowed Jamala to enter and then win the contest with 1944 despite her having performed it at a concert 4 months prior to the eligibility window.
I remember the outcry of like one person when Alina Pash broke the rules, thinking that the entering of Crimea through Russia is irrelevant for a song contest - it could very well be relevant to Ukraine though, especially considering what's happening to them right now (although the invasion started 2 days after Vidbir). It's a completely different reason to be antsy about - some people were also dumbfounded at the Aidan disqualification from MESC for breaking MESC's rule too - but it's a reason nonetheless; for some songs there's more outcry than for others.

Will be interesting what they do now. Nina got 2nd overall and won the jury. Baryak won the televote.

Or they do something entirely different.

Serbo-Croat speakers can onfirm the accurate translation but the main organizer of Montesong and host Vladana has resigned from RTCG and doesn't wan't to be involved with the NF anymore.

It's a pity that Vladana doesn't want to take care of Montesong anymore. I thought that she was deeply interested in keeping Montenegro in Eurovision.
Instead of improving things for future editions she decided to throw in the towel.
She could have learnt from "her mistakes" as well, e.g. double-checking that all songs hadn't been released and/or performed before. Now it seems that Montesong will turn out to be an one-off thing instead of the organic and growing festival to cherish ans celebrate music from Montenegro.
I hope that someone else who's dedicated ans determined to bring it forward will take it up (and that Montenegro will qualify in May) so that we will not see RTCG losing interest in Eurovision snce everything has become messy.

Can anyone explain/translate why she resigned?

Maybe that's true, but maybe she also saw some stuff backstage or in the RTCG headquarters that made her decide she wants nothing to do with that broadcaster anymore, it's quite hard to tell at the moment so I don't think we can judge it that quickly

Honestly, I can't really say I feel bad for NeonoeN. They knew the rules beforehand, or should have known at least. They could have applied with a new song and yet they chose to perform one that breaches the contest's statute. Now that the situation has been brought to light they got scared and decided to resign "by themselves". One could say they did a honorable thing by withdrawing, but to me it just looks like a typical case of "I did not get fired, I quit the job myself". Personally, I couldn't care less - their song was bad or mediocre at best and if everything goes according to how it technically should and Nina is sent to Eurovision instead, the contest will benefit from it, since her song is just objectively better (I'm basing that on the opinion of pretty much everybody I know who watched Montesong). Nonetheless, even if their song was the best piece of music created, sang by angels themselves and accompanied by the best performance in history - the rules are rules and that should be the end of discussion.

I agree with you as well. I don't hold it against her that she resigned - I mean, I don't know what happened behind the scenes - apparently, she highlighted that RTCG wasn't really transparent in terms of funding etc.

As an avid Eurovision fan, I just think it's utterly sad that she resigned, though - instead of trying to improve things because she seemed to really care about Montesong/Eurovision in general and that's why it's clearly a huge lost for Eurovision in Montenegro.
She also levelled criticism at RTCG that all things combined harmed the reputation of Montenegro in Europe and Eurovision in Montenegro (if the English translation of her statement could be trusted).

If I had cared for the entry - in either way - I would be upset or relieved. But since that wasn't the case...

RTCG has released a statement after Vladana resigned.

Regarding the questions that Vladana raised with the public, we emphasise that the festival was organised transparently and with the support of the Association of Entertainers, which covered the majority of the costs. It is also important to emphasise that the script and the selection of the presenter were not within the competence of RTCG.

Sad outcome for the team behind the entry and the future of RTCG selection. Montenegro will be missed deeply next year. :(
Wait – so that means the entire country withdrews? That would be a very unfortunate turn of events and a slap in the face for everyone who participated in Montevizija.
