I barely followed Moldova last year, but this is actually kind of a nice selection. I've got my heart set on Oliv Sky's "Another Universe," though. It may be my favorite or at least second-favorite song this year. It's so hypnotic and filled with songwriterly touches; it's the kind of song where the structure reflects the content. She's trying to reach escape velocity from a relationship, but keeps being pulled back by the memories of hopes and dreams that no longer fit-- while the song itself keeps getting pulled back into the same pattern. That sounds repetitive, but there's so much of interest going on: the rat-tat-tat-tat of the drum, the subtle changes to the "couldn't even try" line, the wonderful bridge, the bluesy guitar. Maybe it's expecting too much for an artist whose Youtube views hover around the 100 mark to pull this off, but this is some next-level stuff.
