Read in Luxembourg news: A first selection (about 200 songs out of the 459 that were submitted) has been made by RTL and next week those songs will be performed live by the artists at the Rockhal to select the final entries that will compete in the national selection in January.

Edsun's ESC song 'Finally Alive' came out today. I find it 'messy' and difficult to listen to, so I'm disappointed. Was expecting something else from him. Don't think it will make it to the national selection (at least I hope so…)

An international jury is now in charge of the preselection process to determine Luxembourg's representative in ESC 2024.

"This strategic move aims to uphold the utmost neutrality, particularly given the small size of the Grand Duchy."

Björkman as a jury member although he's producing ESC 2024 and might be responsible for the running order etc.

How on Earth can his involvement be labelled as "neutral"?!?!
Well, there are him and four others. Maybe Luxembourg wanted someone who knows about ESC better than most people. But, yes, they could have chosen another member of the ESC organizing team who is not as polarizing.

Björkman is indeed an expert but he's highly responsible for ESC 2024.
What if the song he dislikes the most wins? Will it get the #2 Running order?

Someone else who's not ties with ESC 2024 would have been a better fit.
Björkman did the same thing in 2016 when he was on the Jury of the Belgian NF, there is a double standard with Swedes and it is ridiculous

Bjorkman & also Tali Eshkoli turning up in a jury is just as eyeroll as Wiwibloggs doing so tbh. Thats the most generic looking IJ for any NF anywhere ever.

Yeah, I fully agree with you!

I was really excited about Luxembourg's NF since they came across as very dedicated (starting early, getting so many submissions, setting the "has to be of Luxembourgish origin or reside/live there" rule) and all of a sudden, they asked a Swedish guy who will be producing Eurovision 2024 to be part of it to "uphold the utmost neutrality" - yeah, just look at which countries got the death slot in the running order and who closes the GF in recent years.... neutrality my ***.

The outcome can still be good, though and all the best to :lu: , obviously.

But Björkman as a jury member is clearly a choice Oo

You know what they mean. In a country that has a population of only 640,000, there would be a possibility of favoritism among members of a domestic jury.
Yes, but I was doing a lame dad joke about Swiss neutrality.

(It was a slow afternoon.)

I get why the international jury (which I think was chosen a long time ago - so before it was confirmed that Björkman would be involved in Malmö) might be frowned upon, but you have to understand that Luxembourg is really small and a national jury would be highly criticised in Luxembourg. Everyone knows everyone here and no matter who would be selected, they would be accused of winning because they are friends with XX, etc. I'm not saying I necessarily like the jury choice, but it's really important that people who don't know the Luxembourg music scene are involved.
And P.S. Give Luxembourg a break :p They're coming back after 31 years, nothing is going to be perfect, but they are really trying hard and doing all they can!

I don't have an issue with an International Jury, just who they've chosen to be on it. They're mostly (not all) regular jury members, especially the 2 I mentioned. The same people forever appearing in IJs around Europe is tiresome after a while. Idc what people say, I don't trust Bjorkmans judgement and motives when going into IJs - especially when he was Swedens HoD. All that said, I'm not that bothered just think it's a predictable and kinda meh line up of juries. It's the songs that actually matter at the end of it.

RTL Today: Eurovision Song Contest: How an international jury is finding the right Eurovision song for Luxembourg
As dozens of hopeful Luxembourgish artists gather for three days at the Rockhal to perform some 70 preselected songs, an international jury of Eurovision experts is set on choosing the happy few that will advance to the final national selection round in January.
