I'm a bit confused as to the languages being spoken. The main language is Luxembourgish which everybody in Luxembourg understands, right?

Same here - but I was lucky that all my favourites were in semis 1 and 2 (Gate, Gothminister, that country duet, "You're Mine").

Welcome to the forum, btw.
Cheers! Likewise, fortunately nothing much of interest in the third semi for me either.

I'd ask Désirée Nosbusch to roll up her jacket cuffs for old time's sake but no sleeves tonight.

There are many French people there who don´t, at least I´ve read that.
You're right. I work in Luxembourg and I still can't understand anything in spite of me being fluent in German. I can get the grasp of a few sentences' meaning, but that's it.

I can't speak it nor understand it like I do with German.

Also, Luxembourg got 3 official languages (French, Luxembourgish, German).

People in Switzerland don't understand all official languages of their country, either. I think it's quite common in such countries.

so do they always have to translate everything into at least one other, possibly two other (German) languages? I've never understood how countries like this manage to function (looking at you Switzerland). It seems so complicated.

As a German, I can't understand much either - I have to decipher the meaning - it's alright for tonight's show but I would really struggle if I had to work or live in Luxembourg and couldn't switch to German or English

Well, but unlike in :ch: it´s not a question of geography which language is spoken but it depends of the situation.

and it seems that they are using English not because of us, external viewers, but as a lingua franca among themselves. I'm absolutely flabbergasted

I wish the chorus wasn't such a letdown.
Joel was kinda drowning because of the heavy backing track in the chorus.

His voice has some Calum Scott-flavours in the calmer parts… But that‘s the best I can say about this act. The song‘s quite flat.
