Life must be so bloody glorious in Latvia if the only worry he has is because he can't bake his cake

Is not glorious in Latvia. Everything is potato. Potato is everything.

The lyrics to this are certainly... interesting. It's gonna drown in the quantity of similar entries this year though so no final for Latvia again this year... they're becoming the new Netherlands :( It's certainly no Saule riet but it's nice if unremarkable :)

That would be a shame if it failed as I think it's the most honest folk number on offer. It's strange though how much guitar driven folk and country we are getting so far this year. I listen to a lot of this music (well folk anyway) outside of ESC, Malta and Switzerland are ok although could come across as a bit contrived in certain aspects (although I quite like both). "Cake to Bake" is really sweet and charming and has a home made quality to it.. Which is more than can be said for the very hipster-ish quasi (as Mrm would say) folk pop entry Hungary sent last year.

I hope "Cake To Bake" will win some people around.

It's strange. I figured there may be a few that'd try to copy the winner's formula but a lot of the songs this year seem to be following Kedvesem and Tomorrow's progression rather than that of Only Teardrops.

Denmark's winning song (although a pop song) has light folk influence in it so that's probably why. Folk is slowly creeping back into the mainstream. I'm really not keen on most popular folk bands though, especially the current mainstream batch that are doing the festival rounds everywhere. I prefer my folk quainter and of a lofi quality. Weird, psychedelic folk is tasty as wellxwoo

That's exactly why he's so desperate about making this damn cake.
Before that he only had to deal with potato and potato only.

Seriously, the lyrics are brilliant

Looks like Ireland is going for that this year ;)

When combining telephone and online votes, Aarzemnieki won the public vote with a margin of 97 votes, overtaking Dons close to the end.

Eirov

So Olga was 3rd in televoting, but jury stopped her for qualifying to Super Final, and put in her place Samanta Tina.

Last night when I watched this on stage I felt suddenly sure that, Latvia being Latvia, it would fall for this fake smile and this easy, sterile melody.
Now, of course, Latvia will be Latvia, and I was unfortunately proved right.

What a regularly depresssing country when it comes to choosing their eurovision entries xfacepalm

I have to admit this entry made me laugh. They just don't got a clue at all, still 7 points just for making me laugh.

Again Latvia had every opportunity to choose something good, and they chose this?
Though it isn't the worst of this year's songs (shame on 2014!), it's still pretty bad

Actually, I prefer this than Heidi's grandmother screaming like crazy. Of course, I mean Olga.

Will :lv: withdraw if they flop again? Because I don't really see them getting a decent result :(
I'm not too fond of Latvian entries but I'd happily see in the contest something like this again:

IMO the only good Latvian entry in many years (among my faves in 2011 even if it failed big time xcry1)

Cute beat, very nice melody, but these lyrics are so silly. Is Latvia's exclusiveness such lyrics? "Only Mr God knows why" and Anmary's song comes to mind

Still, easily in my top 5 so far. 7 points. And I don't care about the lyrics at all

Edit: Look at all these zeros... It has more zeros than Belarus (if I noticed well). Is that possible?

I'm glad someone here appreciated Musiqq finally, pretty sure everyone hated on this back when it was chosen here :(
