It was pretty nice actually. Another memory trip to high-school times :lol:

Gosh when did you watch this? I just watched this also a few days ago. xrollinglol I thought it was alright as well, didn't quite fall in line with most cliche high school dramas but it did also in some parts.

I watched the other night BEST F(R)IENDS: Volume One. A super strange thriller (I guess you could call it) that stars the iconic Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero. Greg played a role in the notoriously bad 2003 Tommy Wiseau film, The Room, which is cited by critics as one of the worst movies ever made. It's earned itself cult status today for falling under the so bad it's actually good category. Disaster Artist, a Golden Globe winning Hollywood movie based on the book about the making of The Room even somehow became a thing a while back.

Tommy Wiseau is just such a character that I can't help having this weird fascination with him. This mysterious long haired man with a weird accent, who won't reveal where he's originally from, his age or how he managed to amass a small fortune of 6 million dollars to shoot his legendary movie. He's such an enigma. For all it's faults (which is basically everything from script, acting to cinematography), The Room is a charming movie (just don't watch it with your parents). The first volume of BEST F(R)IENDS on the other hand is hand on heart, a stroke of genius. And boy, maybe it's cause i'm a David Lynch fanboy that gets turned on even by the slightest strange thing, but the film really touched my heart and had me gripped throughout. It was so bizarre but beautiful. I don't really want to say much about the film. It's one I think it's better you just watch. I had no idea really what to expect as all i'd seen was a rather well made trailer, but within about five minutes of this thing being on, I was shocked by what I was witnessing. It was so surreal throughout but moved along at a pace that was never boring, and it kept you wondering what was going to happen next. It was very tense, and part of that was a big thanks to the general sense of unease you feel when watching Tommy's character, Harvey. Tommy Wiseau cannot act, but Tommy Wiseau is good at being Tommy Wiseau, and that's basically what the script allows for here. He's riveting to watch and the character he plays is a puzzle box. Volume One ends on the mother of all cliffhangers, and annoyingly i'll need to wait until January to see the second two hour part. The first part though was mindbogglingly good. There's nothing I love more than an ugly duckling to beautiful swan story, and this is the greatest one since Valentina emerged from her chrysalis and said "maybe". Greg Sestero both wrote and produced the film, and it's just incredible to think that here Greg is today, working with the same man who ruined any chance he might have had at a big acting career... but they've made it! They both have here. Bless them truly. I need Part Two in my life now.

Tonight I went to go see the queer Southern Gothic horror film Boy Erased starring the very talented Twink of the Moment Lucas Hedges at a San Francisco screening with a bunch of gays. Chilling, poignant, beautiful, and uncanny. The visuals in the film deserve special mention, as does the performance of Russell Crowe as, I assert, a villain in the piece.

Disney's answer to Goodbye Christopher Robin (the earlier film which basically focuses more on real-life events surrounding the "Winnie-the-Pooh" fame, while the Disney one focuses on grown-up Christopher Robin recollecting his imaginative childhood past after the whims of adulthood washing upon him).

A whole batch of movies i've watched over the past couple of months.

Happy Death Day
++++-

This one I watched a little while ago, but from memory I thought it was alright. Curveballs left and right,
although I did figure out who the killer was early on. The end just confirmed it. Hence why not 5/5

Wish Upon
+++--

Pretty much a more sinister remake of 16 wishes. The ending I didn't expect and shocked me,
but ultimately I thought the movie was just alright.

I Feel Pretty
++++-

How the storyline run was fairly predictable, however I like the message at the end of movie. With
body confidence and knowing your beautiful no matter. Also it's a comedy which is usually good with me

The Row
+----

I've seen better, I didn't think it was scary at all. I little creepy with the killer, but the whole reasoning,
and storyline in general was kinda eh. Also one victim could have easily got away but just stood at
the door like a total lemon.

You Get Me
+++--

Another I watched a while ago, but the end outcome was totally obvious. That said, I did think it was alright,
especially with *spoiler* a girl being a psychotic stalker and not a man.

To all the boys I ever loved
+++--

A decent teen drama movie. The ending was obvious, and the characters obvious, same in every movie. But
I liked the parts of it that broke away from the cliche. If you're bored it's an alright watch to kill time.

Everything, Everything
+++++

A very interesting storyline, it's about a girl who can't leave her house because she has no immune system,
so a simple illness could kill her. There is far more to it than that, but i've watched it twice now. It has a lovely
ending, and I'll probably plan to watch it again in the future.

Love, Simon
+++++

This is something i've been trying to watch for a long while now. Only managed it today. I thought this was
a great movie; From beginning to end. The actor choices were great also. It also made me reflect and think.
It's bit of a hard rocky road, and just doesn't paint a perfect world bubble. it's sad how his secret was revealed
but I like how he dealt with it.

Great rating! :D Absolutely love this film, I think it's a shame that it hasn't received more recognition. I don't think it was promoted enough, I only found out about because I was a big fan of Jurassic World and Nick Robinson was in that.

Idk I saw a lot about it online and loads of people I know went to go see it at the cinema with everyone saying how great it was, it was that which got me we wanting to watch it. I guess with other forms of advertising it was lacking, like on tv etc. It has been nominated/won several awards though (although my general rule is, if it wins all the major awards then the movie usually sucks big :lol:). Nick Robinson has been in a few films i've seen, even in Melissa and Joey that I used to watch time to time. He's in Everything, Everything also that I rated 5/5, and Jurrasic world is super amazing, I still need to watch the new one to that also xfacepalm. Lowkey thought he was about 18 or something, but no he is 23 and only a week or so older than me. :lol:

Apparently there is talk of a sequal because of how successful it was, which will centre around Leah and not Simon.

Yeah I guess I missed out on a lot of trailers this year coz there haven't been many films that have interested me so I've hardly gone to the cinema :lol: I have only seen Nick in Jurassic World and Love, Simon, but he was great in both.

Jurassic World was weird because the Lost World and Jurassic Park III didn't come remotely close to Jurassic Park, both were pretty poor, and then JW comes along and I think I might even prefer it to JP :lol: Pirates of the Caribbean was like that too... going right down hill, fourth one absolutely dreadful, then the fifth one comes along and I like it almost as much as the Black Pearl lol. Like you though I've not yet seen the new JW, from what I've heard it's not great, but I will give it a watch as a fan of JP and JW.

Both Love, Simon and Jurassic World are definite contenders to be in my top 5 films of all time! Oh and special mention for Love, Simon's awesome soundtrack!

The Hate U Give

I was going to wait until I collected a few more watched movies before posting in here again, but gosh this movie. xbow xbow xbow It is an amazing film, I loved it. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't watched it as of yet. Not to spoil it, but the movie centres around Starr, who witnesses her best friends murder at the hands of a cop. A huge thing in America atm of unarmed black boys getting shot dead. It was a real eye opener for me at how the system and everything is stacked against them and how injustice is so prolific. There is more to the movie than that, but I thought it was amazingly directed and really carries a strong message. 5/5.

^ My most fave movie of the year. During the protests scene I felt like I was in 2014 again :eek: Absolutely same feeling. I started to shiver all over my body. Incredibly accurate portrayal of racism & violence against African Americans & issues inside the community.

I randomly watched American Psycho last night and it's one of the most unique horror films i've seen. I can't think of many movies in the genre where you get so up close and personal with the killer. There was a lot of humour but it also made me feel very anxious. The film did it's job really well. There was a particular chase scene that made me feel sick. It was so masterfully done.
