Please, I really hope that kazakhstan joins the contest this year. They are such a powerhouse at junior eurovision, and they will bring their own special flair to the adult contest.
That and more. Kazakhstan has a very talented music scene considering how underrated Central Asian music is.

They stopped broadcasting the contest when RuZZia was kicked out.

No, thank you (and I was a huge supporter of Kazakhstan taking part)

Isn't it more a coincidence though? I mean they wanted to enter just for EBU to constantly be shutting the door, if I recall correctly they were the closest they ever been to enter that very same year just for the EBU to just shut the door once more, so I think it has more to do with that than ruZZia. I can't blame them, it costs to have the rights to broadcast this (even if you don't participate) and if you over and over again gets a no when you clearly want in, I think it goes without saying that interest disappears and obviously they don't want to pay to broadcast it any longer.

I really want to give them the benefit of the doubt. They are very much in ruZZia's orbit but are at least trying to move away from that (but it's not easy for a landlocked country that is so dependent on another to switch on the day). I wouldn't say they are that much more pro-ruZZian than active members Armenia and Serbia for instance.

No thank you.

Equality for same sex couples or stay well away from an LGBT inclusive festival of love and light

I wish GAKKU TV had a large enough budget for expanding into nationwide TV broadcasting and then could afford an EBU membership.

The interest in adult Eurovision in Kazakhstan is still not big enough. The strength of their music industry for high placements and proper promotion of the contest to the right demographic can turn the tables!

Eurovision isn't an "LGBT festival" , and if that's the only qualification I think we should rather kick out countries than expanding it...
Darling if it wasn’t for the LGBT community, Eurovision would cease to exist in today’s ever changing world of TV entertainment. It’s a big gay festival after all, you only have to take a look at the Eurovision Village to recognise that. Naturally though, it can be enjoyed by those from all walks of life… but not those who seek to persecute a minority group simply for wanting to live their true lives.

It's big within the community sure and meant alot to it and vice versa, but it's still not an "LGB+T Festival" and even as a gay person myself I am not jumping onboard on that.

Anyways, strictly in terms of legislation (at least what I could find out on a quick research), Kazakhstan is actually less restrictive when it comes to gay rights than Armenia and Azerbaijan, and quite en par with Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Poland and Italy (to name a few, where the latter two basically have some cosmetical laws only due to EU membership), so if that's your criteria, I guess we should start to kick out countries then? But then again it is NOT an "LGB+T Festival" and whether one likes it or not, gay rights in countries have not been a criteria for entering Eurovision hence why ruZZia and belaruZ took part until recently and EBU still being keen on Turkey coming back (all three being more legislative restrictive than Kazakhstan) (plus the countries I already mentioned).

Not sure if it will happen in 2024 but I think :kz: will be in soon. Some things still need to happen but they would be a wonderful addition to the contest and gets lots of praise for their extremely underrated music scene.
