Not my favorite song but I'm fine with his victory. We had a very solid festival this year, I liked almost every songs.

Agreed. I really liked the songs this year. It seemed a lot of a retro Festival with lots of songwriters in the mix, but I really enjoyed their entries, because they didn't sound dated despite having an Old school sound. Interesting Sanremo and, unpopular, better than 2024.

I've warmed up to Olly's song, so all in all he is a good winner in my eyes

Probably a :7: with potential to grow

The pure televoting results are a but more obvious:
#1 Olly 31.0%
#2 Lucio 25.7%
#3 Fedez 20.5%
#4 Brunori 16.6%
#5 Simone 6.1%

Lucio Corsi with an astonishing 25.7% Is the real surprise... I repeat, before Sanremo nobody knew him. He almost did the impossible, he almost repeated Mahmood 2019, with a non mainstream genre and a song written by himself.

lmao? Olly is easily a top 10 in Basel. A male italian ballad that DOESN'T suck. They've gotten top tens with LESS.

Please. Don't be ridiculous.
I always try to not be too much delusional (NOR RIDICULOUS) about life [in general] but, well, let's say this quietly: It's a possible top ten because ballads are rare nowadays in ESC, but "Balorda Nostalgia" is just incredibly formulaic, even for Italian standards. Even "Due Vite", formulaic too, was emotional. Or Massimo Ranieri.
Just, not this.

It's not a bad winner per se, but please don't admit it's a good one.

Formulaic has not stopped people from voting for Italy. Diodato still has a rabid fanbase, for THAT song.

Never underestimate the power of boners, which are rampant for italian men.

As some random Swedish philosopher said:
Let's just agree to disagree
:)

(Diodato was the real 2020 winner anyway.)

Just to remind you that the lowest placing a sanremo winner has got is 7th.
Slimane had a very standard ballad last year but his charisma and interpretation elevated it.
With this I'm not saying he's going to be top 10 or more, but until may things may change a lot

Diodato's song was better than this one. In my opinion, this is the least inspiring song since Italy's comeback in Eurovision. However, I still prefer it over Brividi, which I couldn’t stand, although at least it had some uniqueness to it.

Simple, beautiful, heartwarming. If Olly goes to Esc ( some say theres a good chance he wont?? ), its another top 5 result for Italy in May

Boooooooooooooooo Italy!! xcry xcry xcry
Boooooooo! I join the Ariston crowd and booooo you for Giorgia and Achille, but especially for Giorgia!!
6th place, seriously? No top 5 for one woman, for GRANDE Giorgia at least?
Giorgia Meloni is ok to vote for, Giorgia Todrani no?
Tutta Italia, we won't play like this! ;)

Almost all the italian esc ballads didn't have a warm and immediate welcoming in the ESC community, even the ones that now are acclaimed like Fau Rumore.
Balorda nostalgia is a rock ballad. Olly has a completely different approach from a typical Italian male ballad, like Fai Rumore.
The guy knows how to sell it.

I really didn't think there was any chance for Lucio to win. I can't decide if I'm happy that he got second or sad that he got so incredible close :(

Sanremo and Melfest? One is the exact opposite of the other. But both are the reasons why Italy and Sweden are doing so well in the contest.
Sanremo 2025 only had dated songs, just like last couple years of Melfest, except the only saving grace is Sanremo 2025 has much better lyrics.

He could be doing worse than Francesca, or even bottom 5 if people knowing his history.
"Nel 2023 il cantante è stato accusato di omofobia a seguito della circolazione sui social network un video riguardante un freestyle da lui eseguito nel 2019, all’età di diciotto anni, in cui adotta termini offensivi nei confronti degli omosessuali e associa la comunità LGBT all’AIDS."

That sounds bad ^^
But he was 17/18 (max.) at that time.
Some students at my school have said worse. They shouldn't be using offensive language, obviously but adults/parents/teachers are there to educate and guide them and they can change. It's unfortunate but he will survive, imo.
Armenia 2014 also ended up Top 5 despite having made homophonic comments.
We also forgave Carola (Sweden 2006) for supporting conversion therapy, we could be forgiving aa teenager for having said something bad once.

Well. This years Sanremo had overall much stronger entries from the women compared to the men - so in true Italy style, the top 5 is a sausage fest. Granted, that means I can now be more chill about "Espresso macchiato" winning Esti Laul, because Italy deserves it as punishment for their sexism 😌

If it needed to be a male act, the Kolors were also right there. Ugh.

This is... okay? It does not make me want to leave this second, I will never remember it exists though. 4 points I guess.

Do you also know about the discussion about this song of his:

Mai e poi mai, il cui testo riporta Il giorno che la trovo o / La sposo o la ucciderò / Se non può stare qui, sicuro / Non la lascio a te

He later explained it with his youth, as a figure of style (hyperbole) and changed the lyrics.

Btw: to whom do refer to, when you say „we“ in your post?

For myself, this song unfortunately doesn't reach me. Sometimes I still mourn about Diodato's "Fai rumore" - that was one of the songs where I literally cried when I saw him performing this. Or Maneskin of course. Compared to this Olly's song sounds quite beige. :7: for now.
