It's not a weak edition by any means, but what worries me personally is the odds and yesterday's top 5. Almost always the eventual winner/eurovision entry is on my radar from day 1, but this year that doesn't sem to be the case. After reading the posts from yesterday i knew i had to check the lyrics of Simone Cristicchi's song and they are indeed touching, but the thing is, "Viceversa" by Gabbani (2020) sort of went for the same emotions, but i felt it on very first listen without understanding the lyrics. I guess Francesco Gabbani is the type of artist that aligns perfectly with my music taste (that explains the high position this year);)

My faves are:

1-The Kolors "Tu con chi fai l'amore"
2-Francesco Gabbani "Viva la vita"
3-Coma_Cose "Cuoricini"
4-Sarah Toscano "Amarcord"
5-Francesca Michielin "Fango in paradiso"
6-Clara "Febbre"
7-Elodie "Dimenticarsi alle 7"
8-Rocco Hunt "Mille vote ancora"

The Kolors are my winners second year in a row. They don't need Blanka to convice me. They just need some good old Italo-disco-popxdance2xmusic

If anyone was doubting Carlo Conti Night 1 on Tuesday had 12.6 million viewers. 2 million up on last year and the highest ratings for the first night since 2013. A 65 % share the highest since 1989!

The peak viewer ship came during Giorgia's performance. To do this while Juventus were playing in UCL knock-outs as well is very impressive.

Battito dropped like a bomb on me. It's raw, real and the lyrics hit me hard.
Definitely my favorite, I'll give a chance to the other songs, but I doubt anyone's gonna push Fedez out of my no1.

My mind says that Giorgia will win, my heart says that Simone Cristicchi will triumph. I don't want to think about Sobral but I see him capable of following the same path as Schulte. I don't see the ESC jury not giving him a Top 3. It's a song that expresses a difficulty that many are experiencing and that Simone himself has experienced. I've seen people cry after listening to his song... and hey! He doesn't have the same vocal power as Giorgia! The beauty of music is this: it's not technique but emotion and identity. In my opinion, very easily, Italy with Giorgia, Cristicchi and Noemi reaches the ESC Top 10. About Cristicchi I say that, compared to Giorgia and Noemi, he is the riskiest choice but also the one that can upset the game table. I love how Italy sends to the ESC not what it thinks Europe wants or a functional musical genre but sends its representative, its tastes, its identity and genuine music. Sweden taught us to see music as an industry and what rules are needed to achieve a great result, but Italy showed us how the power of feeling can be just as powerful, if not more powerful. I hope Benidorm can cleanse itself of Chanel replicas and the thought of what might please Europe (which then often without realizing it is not the European consensus that is indecipherable that is sought, but that of the lunatic Bubble that is the minority). I also hope that Benidorm can see famous Spanish artists (there are many) enter the competition. I dream of Spain winning in 2028 or 2029. 60 years after the first or last success 💪

With whole morning listening to studio versions, then comparing to live performances with orchestra and making notes I can now post 2 rankings of my own. One for the songs - just pure official audio versions, and one for prima serata attempts. Just thinking how to do it to show how much yesterdays night changed my songs top...

OK, I think I will go with ranking of prima serata and marks for just songs after it with places in "only song top" in ( ) and maybe additional gold color to clearly show where my Top10 ended at 1st night.

Note#1: as u can see biggest flop for me was Fedez (it's a good song, but live it's 90% computer noises from all the addons) with little similar fate to Shablo and his pack cause it was pain for my ears. Most of those rappers are weak live singers.

Note#2: Biggest growers are mostly thanks to great vocal abbilities (fe. Noemi, Giorgia, Massimo).

Note#3: I don't think that Simone and/or his song is something like trash - it's just not for me, it's something that I will turn off after 30s cause having no interest in listening more, but I know its like 101% italian, so not surprised with him doing well in competition.

You are all sleeping on Olly. He is the new Gen-Z darling, his esibition's videos are smashing on both TikTok and Instagram, beating Cristicchi, Giorgia and Fedez. And he is being placed on tomorrow's evening, with basically no competition, and he will gain a lot of votes from that.
My favourite is incredibly Joan Thiele: I didn't know her, but Eco is an international song, with a unique production, and she is a great performer. I would be happy with the win of Giorgia, Lauro or Olly, though.
I don't see Cristicchi as much powerful for Eurovision, he has to deliver his important message to a public who doesn't know Italian (and Quando sarai piccola, despite it being one of the strongest lyrics ever brought to Sanremo, is not that good melodically). Fedez is also strong, but I don't like him as a character and all the gossip he's craving to Sanremo (and he's not good live without autotune).

Basically no. Maybe Giorgia, if RAI builds an epic staging for her and goes Loreen-Nemo all the way. Olly and Lauro for a solid top 10 (with the former being a really strong and charismatic singer live even if he uses autotune)

I will add to this that the one and only artist that can achieve a podium in Eurovision Is, Indeed, Giorgia, because I can see her winning the juries in Eurovision. Yesterday's performance was stunning but not her best performance ever, just saying: we Italians know what she Is capable of with her voice. This Is why I think she is the only one who can reach a podium in Eurovision: because she Is a vocal powerhouse, that's why.

looking at these scores, it’s obvious how different Eurofans' tastes are from the Italian audience. everything gets judged through an Eurovision lens: generic pop gets overly praised, while any singer-songwriter track without a straight beat gets torn apart. I see way too many low scores for Lucio Corsi's song, which I think is super sweet, and ridiculously high ones for Gaia, who's just serving up another recycled, forgettable pop slop with lyrics straight out of a teenager's diary.
one artist I really think deserves credit this year is Joan Thiele. great voice, elegant sound, and a cinematic performance

For those who understand Italian, remember our wonderful 1991 Eurovision edition and have some time to spare for a good laugh waiting for the Second Night of Sanremo, I recommend a video focused on the most disastrous Sanremo edition ever made (1989). Believe me if I say Eurovision 1991 is not our most precious gem, Sanremo 1989 really is.

I think the fans are annoyed because they can't define "the horse to bet on". Several artists could do well at the ESC. And anyway, how can you define the winner of the ESC now? It's needed before all the songs come into play. We are taking it for granted that all the next European proposals will be masterpieces. I also see a concentration of the common fan on the ballad as if the Italian festival can provide and is providing only this. I wouldn't underestimate Cristicchi. I mean... did you understand the meaning of Sobral's Portuguese words and you don't understand Italian, which is also a musical language that often elevates even the least successful songs? With a well-conceived show Cristicchi could make the entire arena cry. Of all the songs that will be at the ESC I see it closest to "Stefania", a song that brings with it not art or reproduction of the truth but a true and burning feeling that burns the skin.

I really do not understand this hate for ballads in Eurovision too. I mean, I know the majority of Esc fandom usually prefer girl bops, uptempos, gimmicks and aesthetics, but imagine all 37 songs being that way: it will be a total boredom, exactly like having 37 ballads, because too much is too much, and it's the same in both ways. That said, I Will be happy with Cristicchi or Giorgia representing us, even if that can preclude us some possibilities to be in the best positions in Eurovision. Why? Because they DESERVE to be there if they win Sanremo, so I don't really mind. I just want to be represented by a good song and by a really good performer, and in both cases this will be the case.

In my opinion it is more fear than hate. Many know that when Italy brings a ballad or an emotional song it takes a place out of the Top 10. In my opinion it is also unfair to say that Italy has only brought ballads. Since it came back it has been the nation that has experimented the most by not remaining faithful to a safe musical genre and has always been faithful to the popular vote (the vote of the Italian people young and old and not only members of the Bubble).
