But it's really interesting though, out of the 12 times Italy is back in the contest, all top 7 positions were achieved by male/male-led artists and only 1 top 10 comes from the amazing Nina.

Not implying there is any correlation in terms of gender, but it's understandably that Emma and Francesca didn't perform that well since both have relatively weaker songs compared to the rest (even though I really like "No Degree of Separation").

Sanremo has had several female acts that would've done well in Eurovision since Francesca, so it's just too bad they've lost out to their male counterparts.

Emma was one hell of a performer, but the staging was not good and the song was perhaps not as accessible for the general public as their male entries that also had poor staging, like Occidentali's Karma or Soldi... La Mia Citta is still one hell of a banger. Francesca didn't do as good of a job as other Italian entries on the stage imo (Italy's artists just always perform well) and I think that was kind of the downfall along with the staging. Also her not daring to sing the last chorus like the studio version really hurt it imo, but Nessun grado di separazione is still an amazing song too.

Well done, Marco! You were my winner tonight! xheart

As for Italy sending mainly male acts: so what?! They are just serving their target audience like the countries who‘ve sent beautiful girls in short dresses today and in the past.

Whenever Italy sends a typical Italian ballad, the type Europe‘s been loving forever since music existed, of course the main target group is the middle-aged female. It’s usually their kind of music. OF COURSE it’s chances are higher if this kind of song is presented by a beautiful dreamy male Italian.

Honestly I was so surprised how well this Italian ballad did last night both in public and jury votes, yeah... I liked this and thought it was a bit underrated, but not that much, I wouldn't have placed it that high... Interesting result!

It was a stunning performance and some fresh air after so many loud songs and heavy stagings. No surprises Italy did so well, totally deserved.

I think it’s due for Italy to send a woman again. I loved Emma and Francesca xlove

I hope Alessandra tries Sanremo too at some point of her career: we have literally no female artist doing that genre in Italy and she can be a pioneer...

Regarding Emma and Francesca, I knew we would have been in trouble in 2014 when I saw the staging and the outfits, because they didn't really matched the song... In 2016, we should have kept the chorus in Italian.

God no, you really want Alessandra representing you with schlager pop when you have such an amazing music industry?

But still amazing songs though. I wish they translated better on the stage. How incredible wouldn't it have been if Italy only had top 10 results since their return?

Nope... I want Alessandra in Sanremo to bring diversity in Sanremo's lineup too. It would be interesting to watch, honestly. And I think she could do better than expected, too. You know, when some Eurofans say we are conservative, I must agree with them, because we are. Sanremo is moving forward though, because in the last few years, acts like Lauro, Rosa Chemical, Måneskin, Lazza, Madame, Mahmood had quite an impact despite not being the typical Sanremese act we are used to. And I hope we will always see even more diversified entries in Sanremo, it will be far more interesting. I have nothing against our ballads, but Sanremo is more enjoyable when we have 26 songs which differ one from the other. Then, if Alessandra will be the best, she will be our representative. And I mean, why not?

To be honest Alessandra doesn't have any chance in our music industry.
I mean she is very mediocre

We have more "mediocre" artists than Alessandra in our music industry. I mean, we had Elettra Lamborghini in Sanremo only two years ago and the girl couldn't sing live, but she has some major hits. At least Alessandra can sing live...

Wasn't I the first to call Italy as the Big 5 winner?

You are right about Lamborghini but she does a specific genre and is somehow successful in that. As you know she was butchered in Sanremo .
Do you think The queen of the kings cound have done well in Sanremo with those kind of cheap and simplictic lyrics?
Madame and Elodie didn't get even top 5 with those wonderful songs imagine Alessandra with that dress singing La regina dei re.

I hope that next year they don't offer us, for the umpteenth time, ABBA and Swedish pop as a feature of the 2024 edition!
Please no!

Well, I have come to conclusion this was my #1 this year.
It grasped me on first listening (during finals, btw).

It’s the only song I listened to several times since then.
Probably because it’s an actual song with actual performance, unlike most of other entries.

I'm really proud of my country and Marco
I'll be in SanSiro stadium in July with other 70.000 people singing loudly Due Vite and all his masterpieces.
Another year and another fantastic result and we Italians have to thank that fantastic and marvelous institution SANREMO.
I've always been worried and asked to myself who's going to represent us next year? Are we going to achieve a good result and be proud again?
Sincerely I felt a bit deluded only with Emma, the studio version is very good but her performance wasn't, for the rest I love more or less all our representatives. From the excellent Gualazzi to the most beautiful and talented man Marco.
If you listen to all these songs now you'll have a journey of pure Italian music in some of its declinations.
I'm a fan of esc since I was 10 years old and watched Carola wining in Rome, 14 years break was a long long time but it was worthy to wait because we understood that ESC isn't to be snubbed or even to take it to much seriously.
Esc is to be conquered presenting the best you have without coping any formula or following temporary tends.
I'm starting to get worried who is going to come next year but I hope, as always my worries will be swept away during the proclamation of the new sanremese contestants in December. ❤️

I think that this is inevitable.

I just pray that it's a serious interval act (and not that horrible & camp SVT/Melodifestivalen humor).
Maybe they can ask former Swedish participants to do an ABBA-medley. I'm so tired of hearing "Waterloo" every year (they should opt for other songs as well if they really want to celebrate ABBA/Swedish anniversary).

The bar is set high for Italians.
I hope Italians don’t feel the pressure to do well in Eurovision. It’s ok if some year your song isn’t in the top 10. :)
But until then I will say, Italy has been fabulous in the contest. Be happy about it. ;)
