Ho sognato di volare con te
Su una bici di diamanti
Mi hai detto: "Sei cambiato, non vedo
Più la luce nei tuoi occhi"

La tua paura cos'è?
Un mare dove non tocchi mai
Anche se il sesso non è
La via di fuga dal fondo

Dai, non scappare da qui
Non lasciarmi così
Nudo con i brividi
A volte non so esprimermi

E mi vengono i brividi, brividi, brividi

E tu, sei come un pugile all'angolo

Nudo con i brividi
A volte non so esprimermi

E mi vengono i brividi, brividi, brividi

Dimmi che non ho ragione
E vivo dentro una prigione
E provo a restarti vicino

Nudo con i brividi
A volte non so esprimermi

E mi vengono i brividi, brividi, brividi

Good morning! @mauve it seems like i was the one who was sleeping at the time, not Morocco

So my plan for this week is to go to bed early and wake up in the middle of the night to listen to italian songs. I might have to sacrifice eesti laul semi 1 and israeli song selection round on the 3rd, but i'll definitely be awake for macedonian announcement (assuming it'll be on stisni plej tv show) and irish selection. And the whole saturday of course
____

Strong selection as always, here are my stand outs of the 1st night.

1-La Rappresentante di Lista "Ciao ciao"
2-Gianni Morandi "Apri tutte le porte"
3-Dargen D'Amico "Dove si balla"
4-Ana Mena "Duecentomila ore"
5-Rkomi "Insuperabile"

Honorable mention to Mahmood & Blanco. I'd rank them 6th which means i'm liking his ballad more than whatever kind of rap/rnb he was singing in 2019. How about that? xrofl:eek:

I shamelessly stole the color ranking from Sanremo

Blue (immediate connection with the song)
Yellow (not an immediate connection, but not terrible)
Red (absolutely nothing)

A yellow has a chance to go up to blue or vice-versa, but they can also stay the same (most recent example: Xeinn was a blue in my initial ranking, but his live performances changed that, whereas Chanel was a yellow but stayed the same.)

There's no chance for reds though, those are dead in the water.

There's only two colors in my Day 1 ranking because there was nothing that I thought was red.

I only listened to the two most talked entries, "Brividi" & "Ciao ciao". I don't consider any of them anything outstanding, however I definitely prefer "Ciao ciao", it was catchier, more dynamic and tbh less boring. "Brividi" is a regular ballad which imo gets so much hype mostly cause it is Mahmood singing it. I hated "Soldi" but it was a really good song that stood out and was something new to the contest, this one is just alright.

I listened to the others in a recap, nothing that stood out imo, I hope the rest of the songs are better cause Italy can do much better than that. "Ciao ciao" is nice but I'm not sure if it can get them in the top 10.

Just watched the performances and listened to the songs for the first time. I think it's a personal recurring "issue" for me that the 'live' instrumentals sort of changed the listening experience for me. I always end up liking the songs more when I hear the studio versions. But the songs are geo-blocked for me now, hopefully they will be available worldwide soon.

I wasn't impressed with the songs from the first night and nothing really stood out for me. But as usual, Italians are just doing what they like. I have to keep reminding myself that the songs sent in to San Remo are based on the artists' musicality, sound and preference. They DO NOT conform to ESC standards, so I cannot judge a San Remo entry based on how ESC-competitive it is.

Here is my ranking just based on one listen of the 'live' versions:
  1. La Rappresentante di Lista
  2. Achille Lauro
  3. Ana Mena
  4. Yuman
  5. Rkomi
  6. Mahmood & Blanco
  7. Dargen D’Amico
  8. Gianni Morandi
  9. Michele Bravi
  10. Noemi
  11. Giusy Ferreri
  12. Massimo Ranieri
I am disappointed with Mahmood's entry. Thought it was bland. Expected much more from him.
Hopefully Irama doesn't disappoint.

in the first day i have missed a surprising act,a cool catchy melody or something like that - the winner of the first day is a (for me!) very boring love ballad where 2 young males singing face to face.
it is not so far away from our "masterpiece" sung by the s!sters in 2019. xcookie
after the glory of maneskin i expect a little bit more from bella italia.xqueenbitch
Clearly the best act yesterday was Maneskin. Would they have taken part again, they would hav been numero uno anyway. xqueenbitch I hope on night two, we will see at least one act that can convince us just as Maneskin did!

BOOOOMMM!:

At the third consecutive Sanremo Festival and after last year's difficult edition, held behind closed doors due to Covid, Amadeus managed to perform the miracle and make its best prime time. On Rai1, in fact, yesterday it recorded 51.51% average share with 13.805 million Italians connected in the first part and 55.34% and 6.408 million in the second, with an average of 54.7% and 10.911 million. Last year it had raised 46.35% and 11.1 million in the first part, 47.77% and 4.2 million in the second, with an average of 46.90% and 8.3 million. While in 2020 he had taken home 51.25% and 12.4 million until midnight, then 56.22% and 5.6 million in the second, with an average of 52.2% and 10 million.

ps
Coraline by maneskin done last night was the best performance I've seen in my life!
No kidding.

The official video from Mahmood is better thahn their performance, but still average. In La Rappresentante di Lista case I like the performance more than the original video (could only watch lyrics video because the other one is geoblocked)!

I have a question : a lot of Italian singers sing with broken voices, why? Is it because of the italian language making people speaking like that? Is it because of the way they sing? Something else?

Very promising first night for Italy! Views-wise on YT, Mahmood & Blanco are crushing the competition so far, and combined with the fact that their song was much better received by the press jury than Francesca & Fedez last year, it seems they will be the ones to beat? Hoping that a challenger emerges tonight, even though its not the point of the show and I like their song I always find it a little bit boring when artists return to ESC, especially for a country with a variety of options like Italy. The ones that majorly stood out to me are pretty much the top 3 + Achille Lauro, have had DOVEEE SII BAAAAALLLLLAAAAAAAAAA stuck in my head since I heard it last night lol.

it is fashionable to speak like this in Italy especially among young people, they speak their own language so with broken words

La Rappresentante di Lista - Ciao ciao = 9/10
Gianni Morandi - Apri tutte le porte = 9/10
Michele Bravi - Inverno dei fiori = 8/10
Mahmood & Blanco - Brividi = 7/10
Giusy Ferreri - Miele = 6/10
Rkomi - Insuperabile = 6/10
Ana Mena - Duecentomila ore = 6/10
Yuman - Ora e qui = 5/10
Achille Lauro - Domenica = 5/10

Unfortunately missed the show whilst it was live last night but caught up. Not the strongest night of Sanremo but Ciao Ciao I thought was captivatingly delightful, as was Apri tutte le porte. A certified bop in my opinion which was wonderful to experience. Others were ok but left me less impressed. Michele's Inverno dei fiori I thought was actually quite lovely but it I don't know.. I wasn't blown away. Still, hard to knock it. Brividi was just alright. Mahmood's amazing vocals elevate the song, as does his chemistry with Blanco. The thing is I've listened to it three times now and can't remember a thing. Achille Lauro being my least favourite of the night is actually quite heartbreaking but that song was not it. Once the whistling came in I think any hope I had of a turnaround were gone. It's a shame as I was looking forward to him the most.

Night two be better xpray I'm hopeful looking at the names. Can't wait for Le Vibrazioni.
