Sanremo 2021: Vote for YOUR favourite!

Loro non sanno di che parlo
Voi siete sporchi, fra’, di fango
Giallo di siga’ fra le dita
Io con la siga’ camminando
Scusami, ma ci credo tanto
Che posso fare questo salto
Anche se la strada è in salita
Per questo ora mi sto allenando

E buonasera signore e signori
Fuori gli attori
Vi conviene toccarvi i coglioni
Vi conviene stare zitti e buoni
Qui la gente è strana, tipo spacciatori
Troppe notti stavo chiuso fuori
Mo’ li prendo a calci, ‘sti portoni
Sguardo in alto, tipo scalatori

No

Io ho scritto pagine e pagine
Ho visto sale, poi lacrime
Questi uomini in macchina

Tu portami dove sto a galla
Che qui mi manca l’aria
E parla la gente, purtroppo
Parla, non sa di che cosa parla
Tu portami dove sto a galla
Che qui mi manca l’aria
Parla la gente, purtroppo
Parla, non sa di che cazzo parla
Tu portami dove sto a galla

FIRST ACT:

Good evening everyone. I can finally write my message. I wanted to wait because I wanted to express everything that I have happened and all my emotions with coldness.

Before ESC 2021, I watched the Maneskin grow up. It is a wonderful fairy tale to see young people playing in the middle of the street to win the hearts of the European public (the healthy, sporty and music-loving one). I was convinced, my past messages testify, of the potential of our rockers. I am always sincere: if a song is beautiful it is beautiful, if a singer is good it is good. I have never had a blind pride and this can be witnessed by my messages during the night of Sanremo.

The Maneskin with their song "Zitti e Buoni", after having listened to every European representative, were destined to win. I believed it even though the ESC and some of the public have always hit us hard. The strength lies in perseverance. Always believe that the impossible can become possible even if the headwind hits us violently. Someone may now think that I am guilty of presumption. Instead I am proud to have seen our colors triumph in the toughest and most uncertain edition in ESC history. In years past, the songs from 2nd to 12th position could have easily triumphed and undermined the dominance of some dubious champions.

Last night I was convinced. I saw too many signs: the favorable Betting Odds (which saw us rise from 5th to 1st position - as happened to Sobral), the reactions and words of many European fans. Was this obvious? Did you already know? It does not end here. Our RAI, for the first time, has chosen hosts of a higher level than those of the past. No more than "ferrymen" for a program with uncertain ratings but people of the caliber of Cristiano Malgioglio (a famous Italian lyricist who has also collaborated a lot abroad). Then during the broadcast the other host, Gabriele Corsi (a famous Italian comedian recently engaged in various programs including the candid camera "Deal With It"), repeated, as if it were a litany, "... it doesn't happen, but if It happens...". Didn't I tell you that the two presenters made a bet of undressing and swapping clothes live in case the Maneskin win (after they did! Haha). All this made me turn up my nose ... you know, I really like to read "beyond the apparent facts" xqueenbitch The competition begins and ... you will never believe it ... many messages have begun to arrive from ... Diodato, Renga, Vasco Rossi, Loredana Berté (who greatly appreciated Jeangu Macrooy and hated Efendi) etc ... Ferragni told all her followers to vote for our rockers and repeat the Sanremo miracle "Fedez-Michielin" ... What was happening? Then I remembered the words of Ermal Meta to Maneskin "Go to Europe and surprise them with your Rock! Go and conquer the ESC!" ... Manuel Agnelli came back to my mind, singing in Sanremo with the Maneskin ... it was obvious! RAI had dissolved its proverbial, "before the ESC return", to boycott its singers. RAI, record companies, Italian cities and sponsors had all bet on the Maneskin victory. There was the green light ... "WIN THE ESC!".

SECOND ACT:

The competition had started and ... unlike the big nervous that some members of this forum (the haters) had poured on me, I had a lot of fun and I enjoyed every song without thinking about winning. Indeed, I clearly saw that each singer had their own "degree of danger". Malgioglio's comments were positive and negative ones "perfectly balanced". According to Malgioglio, Spain and the UK were making little use of their potential. Spain, with its great musical tradition, was taking a "step back". Instead, regarding the UK, he was not focusing on the singer (less gifted than others although likeable) and the right song (an offense to what the UK has given to modern music - he found only the use of trumpets original) . Efendi and Gordienko were catchy but did not give anything new ... it was all "already listen". He particularly loved Go_A (whom he met personally), Tatanka (with her extraordinary voice), Greece (with the vocal power and stage presence of Liberakakis), Lithuania (with her freshness), Gjon's Tears (here Corsi said the singer looked similar to Tony Hadley as a young man xD) and was very impressed by Mazinha (he was moved by her song). France? "Excellent French music culture" and "Pravi does not resemble Piaf. The song of France is "atypical" and we can see, in addition to Piaf, several references to its excellent singers of the past". However, the French song could not win the ESC (words that are in line with the judgment of Edweis and of her many compatriots - it is not offense by an opponent).

It was time for the vote and ... the juries promptly disappointed me. My faith was wavering ... really the ESC (with the evil Doctor EscTurkey behind it) was playing a new bad joke on us? I was heartened by the votes of Ukraine, Slovenia, Croatia and Georgia together with those of Macedonia, Russia and Sweden (!). I apologize if I fly over the other nations that have awarded us with good grades but I have to summarize. At the end of the first part of the games ... I was disgusted by the "caresses" between Switzerland and France and it seemed strange to me, too strange that two songs, in a certain sense similar, sit themselves at the top of the chart. Then I breathed, thought about the image of Mauve's puppy, and I calmed down xD. The ranking was short! Something strange could happen ... it could happen that the two ballads could remain with "a match in hand" ....

The public voting began and ... something immediately struck me! The four consecutive "zero points" had made me understand that the votes of some nations would be "important". Before continuing, I say that "zero points", even if it is part of the game, is cruel. My mother and I (unlike what AshleyWright, the famous "Bromancer" on our forum, thinks), we were very sorry. My mom said the UK song wasn't that bad and that James didn't deserve that. I don't care if instead of the UK we would have made many deviant Eurofans rejoice. I can't bear the humiliations of others. My heart wept for Blas and ... my friend, Jendrik. Anyway ... what I thought happened and I was very happy to see Ukraine and Finland making the competition favorites worry. Once in Malta it seemed to me that I saw Lundvik's despair in Destiny. It was Italy's turn ... BOOM!!! An explosion, a horde of fans had voted our song defined by some as "bad", "overrated", "noisy", "fart", "worse than the dictatorial hymn of Belarus" ... I saw on the face of Pravi and of Gjon's Tears terror ...

THIRD (AND LAST) ACT:

My mother and I lived the strange situation with palpitation ... I was standing and clutching the chair in my hands ... I was still as a statue ... when France could not overcome us I shouted for joy! It was the turn of the talented Gjon's Tears ...

In the meantime I saw our Maneskin express all their emotion ... they expressed them without holding back ...

The result arrived and ... Italy had won! God! A-A-ADRENALINA!!! I celebrated like when we won the 2006 World Cup!!! Then ... Damiano unleashed all his emotion on stage ... without censorship!!! Epic!!!

My sleep was troubled and today I calmed down by going to eat in an excellent restaurant outside Rome with my family. Thanks to this day that allowed me to reassure myself, I am now able to write you this chronicle of events.

Let's move on to some considerations, I am really very saddened by the unsportsmanlike behavior of the journalist and the French delegation (not of the French Eurofans who complimented and were polite). How is it possible to accuse guys of taking drugs worldwide? Some guys who sang a song that also fights drugs (read the lyrics and you will understand where I am referring to). That's disgusting! At this point must we arrive for glory? To tarnish young people who love music, are they professionals and have fought without having had any recommendations? Damiano even proposed to take the drug test! He has nothing to hide!

Changing direction, I say that our television audience has now reached the right levels to make the ESC a main channel program (so far it has been broadcast on a secondary program such as Rai 4 and with emerging hosts).

I also say to the "candid souls" who accused Italy of "throwing their vote" (we voted for Lithuania which was among the favorites!) That this is not our way of doing. We have suffered the wrongs and even if we did, this is part of the game. It seems to me that there are other "suspicious votes"; do we want to open the "Pandora's Box"?

I reply to those who have left our thread because we Italians did not write and pronounce the name of our group correctly, which is an absurd banality. How many times have we Italians read or heard our wrong words from non-Italian people? We don't snub anyone for that (I hope Anaraqueen doesn't come back with his spot-on articles on racism - which I won't answer). When you do not have the command of the language, miss the words and accents, it is normal to make mistakes or simplify the words according to one's pronunciation. I mean that Gabriele Corsi (our host) always pronounced the name of the group correctly.

I conclude by saying that I wish Spain, Germany and the Netherlands to recover quickly and be competitive again. And the UK? I advise him to brush up on his extraordinary musical background. You have been and still are masters. Rock, together with the USA, is "your thing". If only you had trusted your talents, your Rock would triumph and we Italians would still be complaining about a missed opportunity. Your harsh comments (apart from a few sincere music lovers like RainyWoods and ... Ianp's "redemption" that I've seen writing words to balance) and your low grades are proof that, apart from your coldness with us, this victory has burned you a lot.

Greetings to all our supporters! Italy loves you and invites you to come and celebrate with us in 2022. Instead, to the "pulped livers" of the haters, I say "ZITTI E BUONI"!!! xmetal Please, traslate! xprayxrofl

Maltese, Azeri, Spanish and French jury thanking Italy favorite with zero points, and their people televote them to 10 and 12. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

There's God. There is God after all Damiano, you were wrong. 🤣🤣🤣

Only 7 countries gave them televote less than 7. This was a massive televote!
Not Denmark giving us the lowest ranking out of all juries even though Victoria is half Danish :eek::eek:

Edit: I meant to reply to the comment you replied to, but my comment still stands.

Thank you for your thoughts. I understand them oh so well. I was right there with you for the ride.

Went through a lot of different emotions yesterday. After handing my 20 votes to Maneskin (I know you don't spell it like this, but keyboard issues...) and watching the juri votes, my heart just sank. Then the absolute burst of joy and anxiety when they announced the 300+ televotes. Tears of happiness and jumping up and down when they won.

I won't mention the ugliness that followed, it breaks my heart. Hope Damiano can surpass that.

It was really a beautiful moment to see those 4 friends making it. They deserve all the love they can get. Special people they are.

So Denmark was the one who rated İtaly lowest with their Danish name and one of band members 🤣
You're not mentioned, Trece. It's true. But, I say it sincerely, you are in my heart xheart You are a true friend :gimmefive: I don't respect you because you followed the Maneskin with interest but I respect you because you are balanced and sincere. There were moments where you also asked me some awkward questions but, through your words, I saw an interesting point of view. You are one of the EscUnited members who enriched me as a personxup

Thanks Lacrymea. It is a pleasure to have had the honor of facing this wonderful journey with you and with many others (Mauve, Franzilein, Remisan, PollyWantsACraker, Trece, Nudiecrudi and I could continue ...). I appreciated your every single word and thought. This is the real trophy of the ESC, the friendship that can be created between distant people and with different cultures xheart I hope I can continue this fun journey with you over the years:gimmefive:

Dear HP Lovecraft, as a non-Italian, I believed in this victory from the start.

A week ago, I answered here to a kid claiming that this song cannot appeal to wide audience (he didn't get why we loved it), that Zitti e buoni managed to make momentum, that momentum, when the world first heard the strange and uncommercial Smells like teen spirit by Nirvana. And the whole world went crazy for it, rapers, jazzers, pop teens, adults, and even old rockers like Guns n R. that Nirvana had sent to the history.

Most of recognized the momentum Maneskin had served us, most of us realized we had discovered the music and band we will not leave in years to come.

And for us who had recognized that, but had to endure constant bashing and insults here and elsewhere, this victory is as emotional as we were Italians. We feel pride together with you! ❤

EDIT The drugs thing.

I know the part of Zitti e buoni you are talking about. It is actually a condemnation of tolerance towards mafia living from drugs business.

He, a 21 years old young man, had a courage to confront publicly what old people fear to say at coffee with friends. It is even potentially dangerous for him.

Absurdly he ends up being accused of what he fought against. Immense injustice!!!

I expect Damiano writing aa new song of what he lived through last nite, it hurt him deeply, it was obvious. And I will enjoy those lyrics as nothing thus far. ❤

I will come to Italy for ESC next year as it is in my nearby, and I will be happy if we could all meet for a chat. ❤

As Dante said: "Non ragioniam di lor, ma guarda e passa" [Let us not speak of them, but look, and pass.]

Still, this situation is shaping to be one of the most absurdly ridiculous ( but not in a funny way) pages of the contest. xfacepalm

Another anecdote the band can add to their crazy story, I guess...xexcuseme

I am sure that it will be a great edition of Sanremo 2022 as singers in competition and event, Rai will take advantage of Sanremo to enhance Eurovision in Italy, I hope that these two great events will cooperate together, the mother Sanremo and the daughter Eurovision 😁

It would be great to have a reunion and share this big party that is the ESC together in Italy xhug Because this competition, even if it seems trivial, is a way to get us all closer. It saddens me to see people who live this competition, not with healthy competitive spirit but with a raw and vulgar desire to dominate and humiliatexpunish

Damiano, for me and maybe I'm wrong, is a product launched by Fabrizio Moro (as happened with Ultimo). Moro has a strong influence on the Roman music movement and, like Damiano, he is famous for targeting the mafia or talking directly about social problems (this has sometimes made him hate).

A large part of the public along with the musicians and many big names in music (I also add Duran Duran) appreciated Maneskin. It can also be a genre that we don't like, we can also prefer another song but we can't help but be objective.

I repeat, I am happy that we have had the support of many of you. You have been exceptional travel friends xheart

Thanks again.

A warm greeting! xrunhug

I didn't know that I had such power! Wait ... not me, it is the puppy with its trustful eyes saying to Lovecraft: "Don't give up to early, Maneskin will make it." And ... pop! Maneskin took the trophy. by now, I see the halo above the puppy's head. :ROFLMAO:xheart

You have always been a very valuable member. Your education and experience are valuable to the forum. My grandmother always said "Don't look at what's bad in the world. See what's beautiful and if you're lucky enough to find worthy people along your journey, take inspiration from them." This puppy, along with other users, made me feel less alone when things were bad for Italy. Thank you, Mauve xkissand ... I hope that Germany can really get back into good positions. It saddens me to see that the German public, which fervently follows the ESC, has lately been disregarded. Anyway, I say that Jendrik deserved more. My mom loved the colorful and joyful performance of himxheya
