Sanremo 2021: Vote for YOUR favourite!

Loro non sanno di che parlo
Voi siete sporchi, fra’, di fango
Giallo di siga’ fra le dita
Io con la siga’ camminando
Scusami, ma ci credo tanto
Che posso fare questo salto
Anche se la strada è in salita
Per questo ora mi sto allenando

E buonasera signore e signori
Fuori gli attori
Vi conviene toccarvi i coglioni
Vi conviene stare zitti e buoni
Qui la gente è strana, tipo spacciatori
Troppe notti stavo chiuso fuori
Mo’ li prendo a calci, ‘sti portoni
Sguardo in alto, tipo scalatori

No

Io ho scritto pagine e pagine
Ho visto sale, poi lacrime
Questi uomini in macchina

Tu portami dove sto a galla
Che qui mi manca l’aria
E parla la gente, purtroppo
Parla, non sa di che cosa parla
Tu portami dove sto a galla
Che qui mi manca l’aria
Parla la gente, purtroppo
Parla, non sa di che cazzo parla
Tu portami dove sto a galla

I just checked the participation list. There are really cool names like Annalisa, Arisa, Ermal Meta, Francesca Michielin, Lo Stato Sociale, Malika Ayane. This year looks like it is going to be a blast.

The 26 covers chosen by the singers for the third night of the Festival, some with guest artists, others alone.

Super happy to see Lous and the Yakuza among the guests! I hope she gets to represent Belgium next year since it's Wallonia's turn and they might consider sending a song in French. Since I'm already writing this, I'll use this post to share random thoughts on the press' reviews, I normally prefer lurking, but this year's lineup is so interesting that I've felt the need to share my thoughts for a while:
  1. Willie Peyote being first in the pre-festival press reviews has nothing to do with his music, from what I've seen in a few different articles it seems like the press is hyping him up because he's the only one whose lyrics are about current society and thus "deep". The press tends to give a lot of importance to lyrics, more than most of the Sanremo audience and DEFINITELY more than the typical eurofan, I don't think his song will be as impactful as it might seem at the moment.
  2. On the contrary, I'm very hyped for Colapesce & Dimartino, all the comments I've seen so far focus on how convincing the song itself is and how much it will get aired on the radio, I'm not really familiar with their music, but I really like their recent single "Noia mortale" and if their Sanremo song has the same quality I might actually consider cheering for them.
  3. That said, it might be time for a female act to win, and if that's the case I hope it's either Gaia or Madame as both have uptempo URBAN songs (supposedly), though I also hope La rappresentante di lista and Annalisa do well.
  4. Finally, I have to mention how Dardust is slowly but steadily progressing his plan of dominating the entire festival. Like, 5 out of 26 are produced by him, that's almost 20%! I like him, but it kinda feels weird to see one producer become so important in what is supposed to be a showcase of all kinds of talent in Italian music.

I really wish Melodifestivalen could be more like Sanremo, a competent representation of the local music scene with songs and acts that actually mean something outside of the selection.

Sanremo's main problem is still though that the juries tend to be sexist old men who often vote for male acts that have more conventional entries when there is often better options, but it is becoming more modern, open and current in the last years so there is a positive change here (some years ago Sanremo was a bit too old fashion for my taste).

Look who has sanremo wins the song, not the interpreter. both women and men won, let's not invent stupid stereotypes, please.
the juries are made up of journalists, orchestras, and show business people both men and women and I can guarantee you, much more left-wing politically speaking.
Then there is the televoting

Everyone has the right to express their opinions, but let's avoid talking nonsense because it is not so.
Those who are Italian know very well that the juries are very "politically correct", and they would never dream of discriminating against a person on the basis of sex, we are neither in eastern europe nor in the united states.
They made Mahmood win during the Salvini government. :-)

Not inventing anything, and being left-wing doesn't mean anything tbh

But one can focus on the "negative" in a message and ignore the fact that I actually praised the selection and also said that it's moving in the right direction, or did you miss that I started out with saying that I wish that my own country's selection would be more like Sanremo?xshrug
