I'm lowkey hoping Italy will never win again, considering RAI's hypotetical handling of the contest. I seriously don't believe they're capable of putting up a modern and international show, even though I've noticed they seem to care much more than they used to in 1991, when they last hosted. Not to mention how much nervous and anxious I'd be thinking that Italy could potentially look bad and disorganized to Europe.
I remember hearing that prior to 2017's Grand Final, given Gabbani's high chance of winning that year, heads of the EBU asked the Italian delegation if they would use the help of the Swedish team to organize the contest in case of victory. They said they'd arrange everything on their own, similarly to what Germany did in 2011.
Just out of curiosity, I want to list some questionable things RAI has done throughout history:
-They let Stevie Wonder flop in Sanremo 1969 (his song didn't qualify for the final)
-Same as above but with Lara Fabian in 2015
-When asked to, they refused to record Beatles's one and only Italian tour in 1965, stating that "Nobody will remember them in a couple of months"
-They forced Freddie Mercury to sing Radio Gaga in playback when they invited Queen as guest stars in Sanremo 1984. Freddie was upset about their decision, no wonder why you can see him intentionally taking the mic away from his mouth during the perfomance to clearly show the audience he was not singing live
