Congrats to Mahmood and Italy! After that performance, I knew he would do super well. And let's be honest, the song stood out so much it was impossible for the viewers not to vote for it.

So near yet so far. Definitely the most overdue to win. Impeccable performance, nice melody, killer hook, majestic combination of different influences...it has the full package. One day Italy, one day...continue to be this consistently good because the festival only wins with that.

Congratulations to Italy on a 2nd place finish and E A S I L Y being the best runner up since and possibly even including the grannies. The song, I'll admit, was starting to fade on me a little bit, but tonight, I fell all the way back in love with it again. Mahmood was iconic this evening. If I were in a battle with reality Alexis Michelle-style and had to reach a compromise between what I wanted to happen and what was realistically going to happen, that compromise would've been an Italy win. It just wasn't meant to be, I suppose.

Rai are one of the more consistent broadcasters that enter Eurovision as far as results, yet I do think they are often overrated. I don't really care about reputation much in this contest either, it seems to handicap representatives of smaller broadcasters, particularly with juries I suspect. I do like the sound of the Italian language but that doesn't mean all the songs are great to me. Actually it didn't get points from everywhere anyway, so not everyone loves it.

the difference in points between Holland and Italy is minimal, if the Mediterranean block in the same way the others European block, Italy would surely have won. Let's tell the truth, Switzerland, France, Albania, Spain, etc. ... they would have made us win if their vote had been higher.

I was rooting for him last evening. I mean although I love The Netherlands' entry and it's alright with it being the winner, but I would have loved Italy to win.
Soldi to me, is the most genuine and authentic entry out there plus it's contemporary and a style not represented in Eurovision before.
But I am glad it got no. 2. This shows the juries in San Remo has foresight by picking this song as the winner.
Well done, Mahmood and Italy! I see great things in him.

Finally we can move on from the pathetic bubble (he's gonna flop, the stage is bad, the televote will be bad, etc.. etc..)
We were 100% in the race to get the trophy and we only lost only by a minimal margin with The Netherlands, the super favourite. If only mediterranean juries were more favorauble with us, we would be talking another story as always

Italy comforts itself once again as my favorite country in Eurovision. Since 2011 there are only two entries I didn't like (2014 and 2017), and they're my #1 two years in a row. Not only do they sing in Italian, there is always authenticity in their songs.
This year Mahmood gave us a comtemporary composition, that I didn't like at first but learnt to love. He's a great runner up.

One day they're gonna win, I'm sure of it.

To be fair, they did In televoting at least. Respectively : France and Greece 10pts, Spain and Switzerland 12pts and Albania 8pts.
As for jury, France gave 8, Greece 7, Switzerland and Albania 5 and Spain 4.
And Malta and Croatia gave you both their 12 pts.

I talked about the jury vote which penalizes us every year. I wouldn't want Eurovision to be like Fifa (we all know how easy it was to win if you knew the right people)

I'm happy with Netherlands win but I really wanted Italy to win, was so excited for him. Loved the song and the meaning.
