Congratulations to Nina and Italy on reaching a top 10 position.

But honestly this was my most disappointing result from the 4 top favorites that I had going into this final.
I expected and hoped this would be a top 3-4 scorer, possibly even win.

Still I'm really glad to have met Nina Zilli in my life (music-wise), I enjoy her voice and style very much. She has the potential to become a universally liked artist.

So San Marino isn't Italy's puppet after all. Only 7 points to Italy, the biggest surprise of the night for me.

Wow, i'm a little bit surprised... i mean... last year = 2nd place, and this year with a much better song, 9th? Not fair.

Nina finally won me over with her song tonight. On stage the woman is amazing. As others have said, it's kinda disappointing though as she was expected to do much better.. Hate to bring it up again but..... should have picked "Per Sempre"! Certain it would have scored higher:D

So San Marino isn't Italy's puppet after all.

Actually, it may be the opposite case. Neither Italy's, nor Spain's TV executives wanted their entries to win, and coincidentally it resulted in Nina and Pastora stuck in the middle of the scoreboard while they were both expected to do much better. I wouldn't be surprised if San Marino's jury had been instructed by RAI executives to do exactly what they did. xshrug
However, it has been an exciting race between Germany, Italy and Spain in that part of the scoreboard. :)
Now, let's hope that tv ratings tomorrow are satisfactory. The future of Italy in ESC rests on that, rather than scoreboard placement.

I love all the songs in the final especially 4 of top 5 were my big faves but Italy could be in Serbia's place... I don't know...

If it had been up to me, Italy would have won. This girl owns the stage and knows how to sing and perform! :)

Is it really true that RAI did not want Italy to win?
I know Pastora spoke in the press about Spain not wanting to win so they instructed her not to give 100% in the final, but later it was revealed that "it was a joke" of her.

If it's true, it explains why they've withdrawn Per Sempre and sent L'amore e femmina. Maybe you remember I was so irritated about that and I wrote that maybe Italy does not want to risk winning the ESC with Per Sempre, because they don't want to pay for hosting it in 2013.

Indeed. This is a tweet from one of the RAI executives:

He says: "Whoever wins, they have to organize the following year the expensive event. That's why in Rai there is cheering and not for Nina Zilli."

No, the song was chosen by her music label, the Universal Music, to promote her album.

What can I say, that is just quite awful. If I were to represent my country and hear something like that, I would feel let down and unsupported by my own team.

They won't really support their own entry until Eurovision becomes a major event among italian audience.
The bad news is that ESC tv ratings are meager: yesterday it only made 7.51% :(
It will take time, and lots of it, to make people crave for this event.

I have a little disappointed with the result. Hard to say what was wrong. But the reality is not so bad. This is music I love to listen and Nina sings great. Thank you for the beautiful emotions.
