There are quite a few ballads, though. Per Sempre may be the best of those, but some of its target audience would end up voting for Spain instead. Others would pick Portugal, or UK, or Serbia.

There aren't many jazzy soul numbers. I don't get the problem with the lyrics. The boom booms and lalas don't define the song, certainly not to the extent of Cyprus or Armenia 2011. It's by no means mediocre and it wouldn't surprise me one little bit if it topped the jury poll. My money's on another top 5 finish. This is a contender.

But I agree, they sound a bit alike (but not too much). The Boom boom boom song sounds like a sped up version of Click Clack.

If there is still no news, I think we can safely assume that the Italian team sticks with the new choice, L'amora è femmina.

Just a quick look at the Youtube view numbers (at this moment, March 20)

Per Sempre in just one month:
-first video: more than 1.15 Million views
-second video: 997.000 views
-third video: 761.000 views


L'amora è femmina in one month:
-first video: less than 100.000 views
-second video: 32.000 views

That should be a warning sign for the Italians.

Yes, but still the difference in number of views between Per Sempre and L'amora è femmina is really huge. You could normally expect a huge increase in views once the song is announced but that didn't happen for L'amora è femmina. It should be over 200.000 now, but its at a paltry 100.000.

I think the only other ballad that would've been a real 'threat' to Per Sempre is Spain's Quedate conmigo. But that is a tricky song to sing, similar to Israel's Harel Skaat's song 2 years ago and France's Amaury - Sognu: just 1 or 2 mistakes will be audible, and then you're out.
