Please keep discussion in this thread specific to Eden Golan and her song, Israel's (potential) participation in Eurovision 2024 and discussions or remarks from other countries and organisations about Israel's participation.

Any further discussion of a political or humanitarian nature not relating to specifically Israel in Eurovision 2024 needs to go into the politics sub-forum. Thank you!

This shares a lot with „Brudges“ in terms of style, vibe, melodic material,… We‘ll see if people appreciate it as much.

I beg to differ. "Bridges" sound kinda dated and your typical ESC ballad material. "Hurricane" sounds like a more up-to-date American pop ballad that you hear from the radio. The similarities are both are ballads with competent performers.

As for appreciation, we wouldn't know. If this does incredibly well, detractors will say Pro-Israel people are voting this out of "sympathy" and in solidarity and not truly an appreciation of the musicality of the song. Although both can still ring true.

I don't gamble, but seeing the Israeli odds in the top 5 market makes reconsider lol. Free money

It's a quality song, but the main problem is that what sounds like the build-up to something more interesting turns out to be the chorus.

I know Eurojury tends to get things wrong sometimes and has several limitations (ie. jury size, non-participating countries voting etc) but it somewhat gives a glance on how potentially a jury might vote.

While the website that is hosting this has intentionally not give the same coverage to Israel's entry, interestingly, Israel is ranked #7 overall. Makes me wonder all the talks about the juries potentially tanking Israel because of the ME conflict could be just noise.

I seriously hope juries would still rate it accordingly on its own merits without letting the politics influencing their "supposed"role of judging the song as it is and not because of their politics inclinations (ie. whether it's Pro-Israel or Pro-Palestine).

Just wondering if there is any co-ordinated campaign among Jewish communities in France, UK etc to come out and vote for this

Just about 2 more days till Eden does her rehearsals, I can't wait. I also hope there is no protest or anything close to a sabotage by the ESC crew. It's one thing to have protest coming from the outside. It's another if there are crew members pulling a stunt.

Send my well wishes to Eden and her delegation, hoping everything is safe to them in their entire ESC journey. Must be nerve-wrecking.

She is on her way to Malmo.

guyyyyys it’s happening. i’m heading to Malmo to represent us at Eurovision. as i begin this journey i’m filled with so many emotions—excitement, anticipation, a little nervous, but most important the desire of wanting to put on the best performance i know i can. i am honored and filled with so much pride to represent our country—this song represents us, all of us including those who are home and aren’t— we are waiting for you. i have so many people that i’m thankful and grateful for. without them none of this would be possible. and of course to you guys- thank you, thank you, thank you. your messages and support the last few months means the world to me and gives me all the strength i need to keep pushing. this song, like our nation, is filled with heart and i intend on pouring it on that stage.

love you guys, Eden ❤️🎗️

I do not give shit about the country but this girl will experience a bad Eurovision journey. Locked in the hotel room... it is sad.

Its never been more important for Israel to participate than it is this year after what happened on October 7th. No one has ever had to deal with the scrutiny, death threats and anti-semitism that Eden has had to deal with but she's barely made mention of it and is standing strong excited to be representing her country.

Here's is Eden's message before heading to Malmo for first rehearsals tomorrow.

I agree. It takes such immense courage to go on to the contest, knowing very well she still has to face so much horrible things that are coming her way. In this exceptional circumstance, I am sure Eden knows she is not going to get the Eurovision experience she deserves but I believe she understands her representing Israel in a such a huge global event at this time is the top priority. Israelis and Jews are known to be resilient, so I really hope she is in a good head space to take on this. Sending Eden and her team the best wishes.

Eden is probably not reading the fan forums and social media posts (and she shouldn't) but in the off chance she is lurking i wish her to stay safe and focused on her mission.

I'm definitely a bit anxious about how the organizers will deal with safety concerns, but also happy that Israel gets to participate. I'm also satisfied that the EBU publicly approved of the lyrics before the song was even released. That way every argument against it is not justified and the Belarusgate was successfully avoided.

Is she attending the turquoise carpet, do we know? I understand that she's confined to her room but I'm sure I've read somewhere that excludes official engagements?

She will stay in the room all time ex. the live shows and rehearsals.

It's not all juries, it's some juries, iceland, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Spain and Belgium I'm fairly confident will blank Israel. UK Netherlands Portugal and Armenia are also countries that might blank Israel, but I am much less certain about these 4

This might well be enough to take Israel out of the running for the win, especially as Israel is not likely to get a Ukraine 2022 style televote.
