I'm gonna let go of the armor
Let off the power that I've been lighting
Not afraid of the monsters, of the nightmares
That I've been fighting

Easy to run, harder to stay
Finding colors in the grey
You thought I was done
But I've gotta go on
I fell twice, now I'm twice as strong

I've been searching all the wrong places
I've been trying too many faces
Only one way to go
This is the way back home
I've been searching all the wrong places
I've been trying too many faces
Only one way to go
This is the way back home

I had to take all of the wrong ways
All of the wrong ways
As I couldn't see
All the signs, all the mistakes
Pointing one way to get back to me

Easy to run, harder to stay
Finding colors in the grey
You thought I was done
But I've gotta go on
I fell twice, now I'm twice as strong

I've been searching all the wrong places
I've been trying too many faces
Only one way to go
This is the way back home
I've been searching all the wrong places
I've been trying too many faces
Only one way to go
This is the way back home

My soul is a map, my heart is a compass
I am the road
There's only one way to go
This is the way back home
My soul is a map, my heart is a compass
I am the road
There's only one way to go
This is the way back home

I've been searching all the wrong places
I've been trying too many faces
Only one way to go
This is the way back home
I've been searching all the wrong places
I've been trying too many faces (I've been trying)
Only one way to go
This is the way back home

sorry but i think it was a really bad idea to do this staging (the live vocals were weak but thats another story): it's the first time u can connect to a live audience in over a year, and they decide to to a let her perform in a tiny setting with tiny paper cuts (which yes looked very sloppy and i did not get the story at all) instead of thriving in the energy of a crowd? sorry but just no

This was a cute song, it actually was somewhere between #8-#10 places in my ranking of SF1, but so out of place and somehow indifferent. NQ didn't come as a surprise.

I had a better impression after the rehearsals. The impact was lost after I saw the whole thing. Overall, I still like the song but I have to admit that it didn't work out well on stage. A non-qualification is, sadly, deserved.

She looked stressed and her vocals sounded pretty strained. Not sure why, maybe she was too concentrated on her moves. Could also explain the highly edited studio version however. Quite sad, because I love her as a person and composer and thought the song & staging were really heartwarming.

I think she is quite a weak vocalist tbh... I have yet to see a live performance of her that would convince me..

A mess. That's what the staging was.

Too much focus on the looks and too little on the vocals. It's like the delegation tried to divert the attention from the vocals...by making Lesley walk and swing her arms around and constantly move, which made her vocals even worse.

Stagings like these don't work too well. Heroes was good, but it knew the balance between stage show/performance. Maps falls into the Hear Them Calling territory...

The props were confusing and distracting (what even was on the flipping papers!?!?) and the "escape" from the scenery was handled terribly. It felt like a "Are we supposed to see that?" instead of "Oh look she's jumping out of the box, how poetic".

A case of when the staging is simply too much for the song/artist. Pity, because Ireland showed great ambition.

The staging ruined it. The last 30 seconds, when she left the props behind , were great but by then the damage was done :(

Ireland finished last in the semi. Even behind North Macedonia.

The song was produced fine. A little too Western-Europe, but fine. You could sell it to a Disney film or some teen Netflix movie.
I don't get how they didn't just throw the props away and gave her a band after rehearsals. Lesley was never a technical good vocalist in her career, she needed a happy-go-lucky Zooey Deschanel type of dress in light pastel colour, colour the paper in a contrast, and slow the treadmill. (and don't show it, like wth)

Sad, because I actually liked the studio version. :-(

I feel sad for Lesley but that staging was a mess and I completely disagree with the folks saying it was "original" and "elaborated", well I guess that was the attempt, but it looked clumsy and childish and it's really sad because the song will remain one of my favs from this year's edition and deserved a better treatment than it did.

For me the combination between the staging concept and the song simply didn't work at all. Both nice efforts but why this dark staging for this rather uplifting, uptempo song? A gimmick doesn't work wonders in every case, it needs to suit the song!
