Too much Emmelie de Forest, too much Kasey Smith, too little Can-Linn.

If the singer only kept quiet for a minute or so while there's a long violin intermission, I'd like this much more. Now it just sounds like an Irish version of last year's winner that keeps on going for what seems to be more than three minutes with little actually happening.
In an average year this would be average, but this year has had such a good standard this is going rather low on my scale. It's not specifically bad, though. Just middle-of-the-road average.

After listening to the song again (without wine), I still find it good. It is true that the live performance is not as impressing. But I am sure that can be worked on. Both in 2012 ang 2013 Ireland qualified with (much) worse songs that this; imo partly because of a good overall presentations.
Does this resemble last years Teardrops? Well, Emmelie sure did a better job on stage that this irish girl (again; this can be changed), but personally I prefer Heartbeat to Teardrops (which I still find rather annoying).
Good luck Ireland!

Ireland should qualify to the final with this, especially with the UK voting in Semi Final 2.

I see what people mean when they compare this to Only Teardrops but in comparison this is far worse.... a pretty average entry from Ireland but they can breathe a sigh of relief that they didn't send Eggnog :D

The X Factor alumni are beginning to show displeasure.

Olly Murs ‏@ollyofficial 3h

Gutted for @EoghanQuigg92 & marky last night!! They have worked so hard on euro song. Yet some idiot decides to claim its fixed & ruins it!

Oh, and Linda Martin should just cool it. Same with the X-Factor community.

Had to bold that to believe it. Good standard? This year has been utterly woeful so far.

Seems like a ripp-off of last year's winning formula, except Kasey relies a lot more on sex-appeal, and I also find this song better than "Only Teardrops". I can only imagine it doing pretty well.

I meant exactly what I said. 9/14 songs I actually like, the other 5 are just mediocre rather than bad (though with Ukraine close to the edge). That's as many songs I genuinely like as the entire field of last year had to offer.
Given what position I put Ireland in now, it's entirely possible it would've been around the same or just a couple of places lower had it participated last year.

I know you meant it, I just haven't seen anyone say that about this year's selection so far. Most of have said It's crap.
