Well I understand if people dont get the song but what has always annoyed me with this is that some people havent even tried to get it - they've probably listened to one chorus once and gone 'oh no, it's horrible this, nil points - they're a disgrace to Eurovision'! People who actually have listened to it have realised it's actually a good song, and have looked past the hair and craziness of their characters.
What gets to me even more is that people love actual gimmick songs like Bosnia and Herzegovina this year, and then write off this song as a gimmick when in fact it's not, and it's just a fun song.

I like this song! Yes their act is silly and doesn't translate well imo, but the song is a catchy pop song.

This is way better than Bosnia's entry for sure, but I don't know if I'd call Bosnia's entry gimmicky though.

they've been promoting it

Have they? The only promotional activity I've seen in this thread has been in UK and Ireland. They don't need to promote it in the UK at all. If they get to the final, the UK televote is automatically theirs.

I don't see them having the same success at Eurovision as they had on X-Factor. On X-Factor they would have had weeks of promotion by virtue of the audition stage and a five-minute film of them pratting about before they perform the song each week. At Eurovision they have their three minutes on stage and that's it.

http://www.newsoftheworld.co.uk/notw/_news/1266954/Jedward-replace-Coco-Pop-monkey.html

TUNELESS twins Jedward are going to be the new cheeky monkeys on Coco Pops cereal boxes.
The quiff-haired duo will replace the Coco the Monkey mascot on the chocolate- flavoured kiddies' breakfast favourite.

Cereal giant Kellogg's have signed up John and Edward Grimes, 19, in a deal worth nearly £180,000. John said: "When you walk into the shop all you will see is our faces and kids will be begging their parents to buy us. That's going to be cool."

The Dublin boys are bowled over and will head to Los Angeles to shoot a TV ad. The former X Factor duo have also clinched a London-based Saturday morning TV show on kids' channel CBBC this summer.

Jedward revealed their plans backstage at the first gig of their Bad Behaviour tour in Cork.

They are set to represent Ireland in the Eurovision next month and will face UK rivals Blue. John said: "We want to win it. And if that means taking on Blue and beating them, well, then so be it."

Let's hope they don't confused and sing: "Jed rather have a bowl of Coco Pops!"

JEDWARD have pocketed £2.85million in the past year - the biggest annual pay cheque in X Factor history.
Irish twins JOHN and EDWARD GRIMES, 19, have raked in a fortune from gigs, personal appearances, endorsements and lucrative ad deals.

The quiff-haired duo - who finished sixth in 2009's X Factor - made £500,000 promoting computer game firm Nintendo alone. Other bumper cheques came from price comparison site Moneysupermarket, kids' cereal Coco Pops and drinks giant Britvic.

Cashing-in ... Jedward promoted cereal, drinks and Nintendo
The lads - managed by X Factor judge LOUIS WALSH - trousered another £50,000 last night for just a few hours work on new ITV game show Sing If You Can.

By contrast, ex-pop star SINITTA picked up £5,000.

One source said: "The Jeds are making millions. Louis reckons Jedward have made more money in a year than any other X Factor act.

"They've done more adverts, endorsements and gigs than all the other contestants combined. In the past year their earnings topped €3.2million."

Jedward regularly play Jewish bar mitzvahs - earning £25,000 a pop - and prices for a three-song private set start at around £10,000.

This is one of the most irritating songs I ever heard on Eurovision. I don't like it at all and I hope it will not get through to the final. I think they will end up around the 10th place in the semi-final; so I think they have a small chance to get through.

Re: ÉIRE - Ireland 2011

"The Eurovision Factor" would be the best way to describe the start of the new decade of Europe's favourite music show. After Lena's victory at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, a new trend was set all across the continent for X-factor alike national selections. Ireland is no exception as the first act bidding to represent Eire was announced moments ago by The Herald newspaper and we are talking about the former X-factor stars, The Jedward Twins.
As esctoday.com has previously announced, Ireland is going to change the format of their national selection in order to increase their chances for winning the Eurovision Song Contest. Five professionals from the music industry will mentor five different acts who will fight for the lucky ticket with the destination Düsseldorf.

"It's all being kept very hush hush right now, but Jedward are definitely going for it, and a real threat to win. Louis Walsh was very involved with Eurovision up until a few years ago, so I'm sure he'd be happy to see them represent Ireland. I'm sure the juries won't vote for them, but the public will definitely be pulling for them. All the kids watching the Late Late Show that night will be." , are the words given by a insider of The Herald newspaper.

The Jedward Twins have risen to fame since appearing as John & Edward on the sixth series of The X-Factor. Their biggest success is the release of their first single Under pressure (Ice ice baby) which peaked the 1st spot of the Irish music charts.

that's not correct actually. in 2002 til around 2004, so many acts were from reality tv! Think of Spain (Rosa, Beth, Ramon), UK (Jessica Garlick, Jemini - well, nul points and weren't reality tv, there you go , and James Fox)... there are others!

And also, Jedward to.... at least get to the final! (no they have no chance of winning sadly)
