after my first complete audition to all the songs xheat I don't have a favorite yet, but some are nice

1-Hildur Vala – Fellibylur
2-Ísold and Helga - Klukkan tifar (Meet Me Halfway)
3-Iva – Oculis Videre
4-Nína – Ekkó (Echo)

5-DIMMA - Almyrkvi
6-Matti Matt – Dreyma
7-Brynja Mary - Augun þín (In Your Eyes)

8-Elísabet - Elta þig (Haunting)
9-Kid Isak - Ævintýri
10-Daði og Gagnamagnið - Gagnamagnið (Think About Things)

***
Red- 0/ 4.5
Yellow- 4.5/ 7
Green- 7/ 10

the songs from 1 to 5 place vary between 6.8 to 7.8,so still very undefined this TOP, I really think Iva will be my favorite soon, but for this addition, I feel something is missing, maybe when I see it live I will change my mind

My Top 3:

3. Nína - Ekkó :7:
2. Ísold og Helga - Klukkan tifar :8:
1. Iva - Oculis Videre :10: (for now)

Oculis Videre is also the only one that sounds great in both languages (though it still loses some of the intriguing potential in English).
It has to be Iva, I don't see anything else placing very high...

These are my fave songs so far:
1. Iva – Oculis Videre
2. Hildur Vala – Fellibylur
3. DIMMA - Almyrkvi

Iva is amazing. So is Hildur Vala. And as a Metalhead, I need Dimma as well. ;)

We've got the exact same top 3xheat Any of these would make for a nice entry, though Almyrkvi and Fellibylur would be such risky picks.

So glad to see you backxrunhug

xwave Thank you! Had much to do with moving the past monthes. My mom is great, but my dad isn't doing that well lately. Very tough and emotional time right now, but I am doing my best.
Coming back to topic, I really hope that one of the three will make it as well (well, guess Dimma, won't ...). But all these three songs give me goosebumps.

Great to hear your mother is doing well, but I'm sorry to hear about your dad, mauve. I hope things pick up for the better soon and wish you all good health and happiness.

I think Iva feels like the front runner in this NF. She likely has a very good chance to win. You're right probably about DIMMA having no chance but they have such an enjoyable song, and we don't have enough rock bands at Eurovision (let alone actual good ones).

I have some feeling Iva would be a flop choice for Rotterdam, while DIMMA would be extremely good one.. xshrug

You might be right in some way. DIMMA would be probably doing well with the televotes, whereas Iva would do better with the Juries, I think. :) I just hope that one good rocksong will represent ESC. We need that for the sake of variety - okay and for the sake of me. xheat

Tumblr, mostly.

Why?

You keep on making the bold statements but forget to back them up with logic. When it comed to your posts, I really cannot tell the difference between reasonable opinion and simply cawing around statements for the heck of it. Is there logic behind it? Are you sucking up to someone againthe? Or is it a flash of genius or sone primordial vision of our future? Beats fucking me

Time to put your money where you mouth is, big guy.

Why do you believe Iva would flop in Rotterdam?

You could also... stop being defensive. Or at least use an argument that makes sense.

I don't think you're a bad person at all, mrm but you really need to learn to stand up for yourself. Retaliating and burying your head in the sand isn't going to win you friends, you know.

So again, why do you believe Iva would flop in Rotterdam?

Gooosh have you heard for intuition? I wrote "I have a feeling", not "I'm sure she won't pass because of that and that"...

Retaliating and burying your head in the sand isn't going to win you friends, you know.

I think Iva's staging will play a very big role on if she is a good choice for Rotterdam. It could be as magical as the song but it could also be very bland and boring.

I concur with JohnyKaz. It all depends on the staging of Iva's song as well as the competition and running order. Personally, I think that it's a potential winning entry but they can easily make it "trashy" by going over-the-top with the props and effects or make it really bland by just letting her stay and sing, e.t.c. but it's their best shot at winning the whole thing since 2009, imo.

After the last two selections I was almost giving up on Söngvakeppnin being one of my favourite selections, but they seem to be getting back on track. There's 5 songs here that I really like, which is really good.

My ranking:

1. Iva ... Stunning. Another song that is such a journey, the second half is brilliant. This must win.
2. DIMMA ... It's a really accessible piece of power metal, lots of valleys, peaks, detours. I'm usually not a fan of the genre, but I think this is absolutely great.
3. Daði Freyr ... What a bop. Pop music seems to be going in the disco/funk route and I dig it. This makes me want to dance. So joyful.
4. Elísabet ... The production of this song is so enjoyable. The bass line, the 80s elements mixed with modern pop, the sound it takes around the 2 minute mark (love that). The song as a whole isn't particularly amazing and it doesn't have much of a chorus, but damn I dig those elements.
5. Ísold & Helga ... Ah, classic Iceland. Exactly why I like it, it has this soft, sweet ethereal quality with folk-y elements that ground it at the same time. It has a strong mood and identity. I definitely prefer the Icelandic version though, and I think there's some other much cooler songs in the selection, this is a bit too Disney.
6. Nina ... Why do Icelandic women sound so heavenly. It is a good effort, but all in all a pretty middling radio pop song.
7. Kid Isak ... It's not a bad song, I just find this sound a bit annoying. It sounds lazy, cold, repetitive. But it has some enjoyable elements and has grown on me.
8. Hildur Vala ... I commend its value, but I don't really have enough patience for this kind of music. The tempo along with the sorrowful mood is painful.
9. Brynja Mary ... It's... Alright, I guess. I wish it had that Icelandic touch that I enjoy in these songs. It just sounds a bit too anonymous and average.
10. Matti Matt ... xsleepxsleep
