The Icelandic national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, Söngvakeppnin 2019, is now over, and the winner was Hatari - Hatrið Mun Sigra. Although that wasn't the super finalist I wanted to win (that style of song isn't my taste in music anyway), I was convinced it would win as, of the two super finalists, it was clearly the livelier one and will inevitably have a major impact on stage in Tel Aviv in May. Time will tell how Hatari - Hatrið Mun Sigra fares at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. One thing is certain, Iceland has to go through the semi-finals first; Iceland is in the first semi-final on 14 May 2019. The UK votes in the second semi-final 16 May 2019, so my votes in the second semi-final won't affect Iceland one way or the other.

The song itself would have high potential but the screaming/ noise making is so annoying... I don't know... Not really a fan of it. Reminds me way too much of :fi: 2015. 4 points from me!

Now watch this go full Lordi and win the whole thing.
Maybe it will follow in the success of Finland's Lordi - "Hard Rock Hallelujah" in 2006, and win.

Alternatively, there's always a possibility it could go the way Finland's Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät - "Aina mun pitää" did in 2015, that is finish last in the applicable semi-final with hardly any points.

I think it is a borderline qualifier. Can’t see the hype outside the ESC bubble. But who knows.
Lordi was different because they were a well known band.

Enormous relief they won! They seem to have really tightened up the vocals in the chorus and tweaked some minor imperfections. I can only imagine how good this will look and sound on a bigger stage in May.

Oh, Adolf is again among us  Something is rotting in Europe ...

I'm sorry, this can not digest...Absolutely unacceptable..

This goes to the top (10), but in my eyes is a flop  ...therefore zero points. Zero as big as Iceland

I truly think it has a shot at winning. It's a very polarizing entry and those do always well.

I don't want to be too quick to judge anything but it's surely qualifying at least. Even with a low jury score, televote could place it in the top 3 and that's enough to do a Poland and qualify. Can't wait to see this live in May and the most exciting will be the voting for sure.

If Finland have won 2006, so could this song win 2019.

# Something is very rotten in Europe .. no matter how irrelevant, realistically there are a lot worse things that will come soon to Europe from this song.

THE GOOD:
-This entry is...sort-of unique. The Lordi description is apt, but add "with a groove" and you have this band and this entry.
-This track, more than others, might be able to create its own hype. It's already sort-of doing it.

THE BAD:
-If they were trying to get me to bop my head, this entry was not the way to do it.
-It may be too soon for another entry with unclean vocals to be in the Final.

THE VERDICT:
Oh, boy. Here we go. I will always appreciate an act that can bring something different to the Eurovision stage. However, unless Hatari knows exactly what they are doing with this track, performance-wise, Iceland's chances in this contest will sink fast. Fortunately, since (and maybe even before) they won the NF, the band's got the hype going on for them. Sometimes that'll get you through to the Final. Look at what happened with both "Hard Rock Hallelujah" and "Toy". Those were entries with a lot of hype going into their respective contests, either for their sound, their look, or some combination of both. While this entry is a bit too rough around the edges for my personal taste, maybe there is something to an act having hype after all. 7 points

So I'm not a big fan of this music genre to be fair
The music video reminds me about a SAW trap

I don't think for a second that we'll win. I just want to qualify for once and have a big party for the final. Any points or a high placing is a bonus. I also am a big fan of their genre so I really do actually like their song. The whole look and the possible controversies are the icing on the cake...and I think they'll take their look to the extreme on the stage in Israel. Prepare for some homo erotica.
