Gosh, I think this semi final is really quite great.

Pollapönk are awesome and something different for the contest.

F.U.N.K were pretty cool.

I enjoyed Guðbjörg Magnúsdóttir's song even though it was very generic and safe.

Sigríður Friðriksdóttir's song I actually probably like the least of the five. I found it a bit annoying to be honest.

But for me..

Guðrún Árný Karlsdóttir - Til þín. For some reason I went watery eyed listening to this. I think it's quite exquisite, beautifully composed. I get chills as the choir comes in the second half of the song. After hearing this I really think there is no other option despite the decent to good quality of everything else. This song is special.

Geographically they're not Scandinavian but along with Finland they're usually bunched together under the Scandinavian branch.

Except that makes no sense, as that group is already called the Nordic countries. Scandinavia is :se:  :dk:, Fennoscandia includes Finland (though nobody uses that in daily communication). Grouping Iceland with them doesn't work - one could argue about cultural ties, but if you're including Iceland, just go with the Nordic countries and call it a day. No debate will arise, as that is correct without any doubt.

I must admit that I’m a little bit disappointed with the quality of the songs in the second semi-final in Iceland. It’s certainly not a bad semi-final but the first semi-final from last week was better and stronger.

My favorites for tonight:

- Guðbjörg Magnúsdóttir – Aðeins ætluð þér
- Guðrún Árný Karlsdóttir – Til þín
- Sigríður Eyrún Friðriksdóttir – Lífið kviknar á ný

Good luck Iceland!

As I did for the first semi in iceland, I'm going to give you a little information about the qualification chances for every country:

The songs that have the best chance to go through are Enga fordóma and Lífið kviknar á ný, the song that will have a hard time qualifying is Aðeins ætluð þér and the other 2, Til þín and Þangað til ég dey are 50/50.

Til þín and Lífið kviknar á ný to the final, please.
Same here. xbow
They're both awesome. And the latter one kinda reminds me of Regina's song back in 2012. On the other hand Till þín is so touching despite not understanding the lyrics. xheart

This time I like the girls. Please, not F.U.N.K, let alone Pollapönk.

If anyone doesn't know the story behind the songs, here it is:

Lífið kviknar á ný: The singer and composer are a couple, the singer was listening to some songs the composer had made and found this song, the compser was originally going to compete with the song in Melodifestivalen.

Til þín: The composer was going on a trip for a while so he wasn't going to see his family for a while, so before he left, he sang this song to his children.

Þangað til ég dey: On the final day of the submission deadline, this group of guys decided to meet up and make a song for the contest, the song was submitted 5 minutes before the deadline and the band was made just for this occasion.

Aðeins ætluð þér: The 2 composers often submit songs to the contest, but this time they had to do it between countries. (sorry for so little information but there was a problem with listening to the interview).

Enga fordóma: The guys competed in the contest before in 2003 coming in 2nd place, they were wondering what went wrong, they figured out that toddlers (pollar) didn't vote for them, so they made "Pollapönk", they have songs people at any age can listen to and after 11 years they return, and decided to send a message to stop all prejudices.

I know that some are a little longer than the others (Pollapönk) and some are a little shorter (Aðeins ætluð þér), and that is because of internet problems and some people gave a lot more of information than others.
