In what respect do I have a lack of geographical wisdom? Please explain further.

Thinking you can just concrete up a volcano and that's that. It doesn't work that way.

I don't understand myself anymore... The first time I listened to this song I was like "What the ... is that?"
Then I listened another time to the song and I was thinking "OK, it's not that bad...". Then the third time: Hmmm not my cup of tea, but pretty catchy nonetheless... The 4th time: I don't know why, but I think I like the song....

OK, the result: Iceland is probably going to end up in my personal top 5 this year, even though I hated it at the beginning :D

Has this ever happened to you?

I was very frustrated when Iceland decided to send this song to ESC, but meanwhile it's really growing on me :D
maybe because I'm a fanatic Iceland supporter, who can't hate any Icelandic entry...
but it seems to be a common phenomenon in case of this song.. so many people here who suddenly like this song after hearing it several times

But most voters will hear this song only on ESC, so they won't notice the "grower skill" of this song
I guess it won't reach the final

I don't know if this occurs in every country, but the only people who watch the semi finals in Iceland are major ESC fans, and don't forget that the juries have 50% of the votes, they might get a good place there because of the message...

This is clearly a "grower", and again, for the more skilled listeners. Unfortunatley, ESC is more about the shallow tunes, that's why Armenia leads.

What a judgmental statement to make. So basically the skilled listener appreciates Iceland and the shallow one Armenia? Let's switch the countries and I'll agree with you.

Seriously though, calling those who don't agree with your music taste shallow is just plain wrong.

I'm on my way to your 4th change of mind :D

I believe that strangely, English must have had something to do with it. I'm sure it will never step into my top 5 though NONO

A statement clearly imbedded with deliciously subtle irony, this was definitely the joke of the day. It made it worthwhile for me to stay up this late

There is a level of truth behind is his statement though, maybe not very well formulated. I agree that everybody's opinion should be respected, but there is a general accepted quality in music appreciated more by critics and music lovers. Why do you think we now have jury votes? To cancel out the sometimes weird voting behavior of the ESC public.

If popularity of selling of music would determine which music is best, Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj would be the masterminds of our generation, which they clearly aren't.

A lot of people are hating on :is: this year, because the way they perform and present themselves is not very appealing. Meanwhile they are forgetting that this is musically a pretty good song.

Count me on the swalowers group, please. What a piece of bullcrap

And yeah, I think this song is not only stupid because the way they perform. I honestly think this is BAD. Actually VERY BAD and only suitable for kids.

That is incredibly subjective. Iceland is musically a pretty good song to you, to me and everyone I played it to, it is cheap and unprofessional. There is a lot of Nanananana and that's about it.
I agree that the best selling music doesn't necessarily mean it's the "best" music but that does not make Iceland a masterpiece by any stretch. It is fine to like or dislike the song but statements calling Iceland superior musically is just silly.

You said there is a general accepted quality in music appreciated more by critics which is why we have juries. I totally agree with that. But are you saying that the juries will rank Iceland high in May? We'll know for sure in a few weeks however I'm quite confident in my prediction when I say that they'll rank it pretty low.

That being said, I would never call the song inferior or its supporters less skilled, it's incredibly judgmental.

I just listened to this song for the first time. I like the message of the lyrics. The rythm and chorus bring speed in this song. Still, I miss originality in the sound. But the universal message "No prejudice" can be very appealing.

The most underrated song this year, by far. It's fun, happy, catchy, has a great melody and a lovely message. I absolutely love it, my :12: this year xlove

I still love this entry, great positive message which is apt for what is going on in parts of Europe - deserves a final place!

I believe that Iceland may get high points from Sweden on the semi, it seems to have a great appeal on Swedes, and on the Swedish pre-show "Inför ESC", Iceland only got positiv reviews :D xcheer
