So if I understand things correctly, if someone does not translate their entry to English does that mean for a certain it'll stay in Icelandic if it wins or could that change aswell?

Yes, that's correct. If it's performed in Icelandic at that point, they can not translate to English or other language later and vice versa.

It'll stay that way, so if Pollapönk goes to the superfinal, they'll sing the song in english, since John Grant has officially translated the lyrics of the song for them.

I hear ya...

Wait, that means the acts can perform their entries in Icelandic before eventually qualifying to the super-final?? xshrug

Let's hope sell-outs won't reach the super-final then... What acts said they'll translate?

Pollapönk is the only known act, but Gissur might sing it in Italian as mentioned earlier on the forum.

I find this very difficult to say but this is probably the weakest/worst Icelandic final in years. There are only 3 songs that I like very much. I find the songs “Amor” (what’s with the hype?!), “Enga fordóma” and “Þangað til ég dey” very ridiculous and irritating. I hate them with a passion.

My favorites for tonight:

- Gissur Páll Gissurarson – Von
- Greta Mjöll Samúelsdóttir – Eftir eitt lag
- Sigríður Eyrún Friðriksdóttir – Lífið kviknar á ný

“Von” is my big favourite for the Icelandic ticket to Copenhagen. But I think that in the end the battle will be between Greta Mjöll Samúelsdóttir and Pollapönk. En than I hope that Greta Mjöll Samúelsdóttir will win.

If Iceland chooses “Amor”, “Enga fordóma” of “Þangað til ég dey” I’m afraid they won’t qualify to the final in Copenhagen. And I wouldn’t vote for Iceland in the first semi-final.

Choose wisely and please don’t disappoint me!

Good luck Iceland!

Out of the 3 you chose as favourites, Von is the only good one, and it would be great to see him on the big stage, he might go to the superfinal, but I doubt it, if Greta will be there, then I'll hope that the song against her goes, it will be a disappointment to see such a small, childish act in Eurovision, plus, I really want to hear the lyrics John grant made for Pollapönk.

I think she will not be in the superfinal... she was 3rd or 4th or 5th in semi final 2...

Here is my top 6 for Söngvakeppnin 2014:
1. Pollapönk - "Enga fordóma" (10/10)
2. FUNK - "Þangað til ég dey" (9/10)
2. Gissur Páll Gissurarson - "Von" (9/10)
4. Sigríður Eyrún Friðriksdóttir - "Lífið kviknar á ný" (8/10)
5. Greta Mjöll Samúelsdóttir - "Eftir eitt lag" (7.5/10)
6. Ásdís María Viðarsdóttir - "Amor" (3/10)

I will be very happy if anyone from Pollapönk, FUNK or Gissur win.
But my favourite is still "Enga fordóma". That song is really catchy and would give everyone a good laugh in Copenhagen. :)
Love it!

imho that's one of the strongest NFs so far.

Hi Halldor!

I understand that you dislike Greta Mjöll Samúelsdóttir and her song "Eftir eitt lag" but I think it's such a sweet, little and happy song. Honestly I really can't see the appeal about "Enga fordóma". That is in my opinion the most childish and ridiculous act Iceland would ever send to Eurovision. And I don't find them funny at all. Sylvia Night was funny but not them imo. I really think that if they're chosen to be the Icelandic entry that they won't reach the final even with or without English lyrics.

I respect your opinion, but they're not trying to be funny with the song and performance, but they would be entertaining in interviews and such.

Greta is the only real option here IMO, Pollaponk, Asdis Maria and FUNK are an insult to my ears. Overall most of the good songs have already been eliminated. The Icelandic taste in music always seems quite random to me. 'Von' is another decent song but rather dated. I'll probably skip this Final
