The selling-out continues... I hope people are happy with ESC turning into ANGLOvision... the Europhobes will have a field day when every trace of European national languages and culture is gone from the contest once and for all :/

why always English? 
I mean it's not like Icelandic sounds horrible like Klingon and in addition it needs efforts to translate the song and so on... it's not worth the trouble. Original versions are mostly the best. I don't think the song gets an improvement through a different language
Eythor sang in Icelandic and reached a better result with a weaker song, than Greta & Jonssi reached with the English translation in 2012.

Well, if they sing in English at that point, they will have to sing it in English in Copen, or if they sing it in Icelandic at that point, they will have to sing it Icelandic in Copen. I think this is a good rule. There has always been a controversy surrounding the fact that most songs are performed in English in the main contest, so now, people can make up their mind if they want to vote for a song based on the language it will be performed in.

Until now, contestants always performed in Icelandic in the national finals, but most of them translated to english before the main contest. This new rule says that if you are going to translate it to english for the main contest, then you have to sing it english in the superfinal. Then I mean the 2 songs with the highest votes. They have to sing again and there is going to be a televote only.
Ah, thanks for the clarification. That's actually a much fairer rule than usual

I like it, people can see kind of how they would be in Copenhagen and judge from that, and we would also get to see if they will translate or not, so personally, I would like this to be every year.

In Iceland, it is mandatory for the songs to be in Icelandic, but some composers might have made this song first in english, so it would be great to see.

Okay, then I take my disappointment back, because this seems to be fair... So it will be sure that the song which will be performed in Copen is definetely the chosen song and not a translated version... now the voters have the power to decide if hear the Icelandic language in Copen or not
Now I'm optimistic that we will see a Icelandic song in Copen, because if the artists hadn't a english version before, they have to perform in Icelandic anyway, since they had not enough time to create a english version

Actually I wouldn't count on that. In many of the interviews with the contestants, the lyrics were originally in English and then translated to Icelandic for the national final.
I even think that one of the song could possibly be performed in Italian, if it were part of the top 2, but I highly doubt it will.But it puts more pressure on the contestants, because some of the voters prefer to hear it in Icelandic, and some prefer to have it translated to English, so they could loose some votes either way.

Yeah, at least there is no deceiving this time. People will vote knowing what language a song is going to be in. When you put it like that, It's a good idea.
It would be really nice, if they take "Von" and made it a multilangual song. First verse and chorus in icelandic. Second verse and chorus in English. Then the middlepart again in Icelandic or something else,The End in Italian. This would be great.

I guess it's more fair than translating after victory, however if they are allowed to translate then why in the end? The most honest would be to allow different languages from the get-go then.

So if I understand things correctly, if someone does not translate their entry to English does that mean for a certain it'll stay in Icelandic if it wins or could that change aswell?
That seems to be the implication
