Re: ICELAND 2012

I like 3 of Iceland's songs and they all went through. Good stuff so far, but if Mundu Eftir Mer doesn't win, heads are going to roll.

Blar opal are my favourite so far, followed by Greta Salome and Jonsi. I don't really like Regina's song and the other qualifier from semi 2 is pretty meh too.

I'm curious to see what is in store for the last semi. :)

But don't have a completely different taste anyway? Don't you like the sort of high-tempo pop songs?

Re: ICELAND 2012

Haha yes of course it's all about taste! :) For example I really don't like ballads. I think they are too boring. But! I love Iceland 2009, Israel 2008-2010. Many spanish ballads. Serbia 2007-2004...

I just don't think their song is something so "wow" as many people think. I believe it's overrated. That's all. :)

Re: ICELAND 2012

Off the first two semifinals, Gréta and Jónsi are my favorites and I would be happy if they won. They are a great duet, have a great chemistry.

BUT

there is one more semifinal next Saturday and I am excited to see the song Magni will be performing. Remember Eirikur Hauksson and Valentine Lost in 2007?

That was a great rock song and Eiríkur did a great job. The songwriter of that song was Sveinn Rúnar Sigurðsson, the same songwriter of the song Magni will be singing in the last semifinal. Magni was going to sing Valentine Lost but had to cancel, so Eiríkur came instead.

Magni is great singing rock songs and he has been covering so many of them:

Queen - I want it all

David Bowie - Life on Mars

Simon & Garfunkel - The Boxer (a duet with his nephew)

Radiohead - High and Dry

So, it's a question of the "right" song for him, and I am pretty positive that what Sveinn Rúnar has chosen for him will be good. I also hope that he will have a band with him onstage. Crossing fingers that I will be happy with his song otherwise, I will be satisfied with Greta Salome and Jónsi.;)

1. Greta Salóme, Heiða og Guðrún Árný- “Aldrei sleppir mér”: Greta will compete her another song in final, because this deserves the final. Very very good.
2. Herbert Guðmundsson- “Eilíf ást”: This is uptempo and nice, but considering the standards of this semi, no finals.
3. Iris Lind Verudóttir- “Aldrei segja aldrei”: Not bad but no final will come from this for sure.
4. Magni Ásgeirsson- ”Hugarró”: Magni knows how to sing ballad. He was superfinalist last year and his duet with Birgitta in 2008 is also great. This won't miss final for sure.
5. Svenni Þór- “Augun þín”: I like this soo much too. But they put so much nice songs to this semi. So, may miss final.
Imo, Aldrei sleppir mér and Hugarró will make it to grand final.

I like all the songs from third semifinal. But Mundu eftir mér is the best one for Baku!

2. Herbert Guðmundsson - Eilíf ást
3. Svenni Þór - Augun þín
4. Magni Ásgerisson - Hugarró
5. Iris Lind Verudóttir - Aldrei segja aldrei

3rd semi is the best till now, my favourites for final are Magni Ásgerisson & Svenni Þór. If one of them or Great & Jonsi or Regina win, Iceland will be one of my favorites 2 years in row! :D

Those two are my favourites in the third semi as well.

I think if Iceland chooses Regina, the song might grow on me but I think they have better options. I think Blar opal and Greta and Jonsi are ultimately my overall favourites.

Re: ICELAND 2012

I agree with both stevan 989 & evilperson.

For some reason the song "Eilíf ást" with Herbert Guðmundsson is getting alot of attention though. I guess the reason being it's catchy at first listening, but come on, the chorus is mostly repetition of "Eilíf ást" and "Ást" which is translated as "eternal love" or "love". The lyrics are just plain bad. Between this one and Blár Opal song from the first semi then "Stattu upp" is far better IMO.

I am a fan of Magni so I know that I am not neutral (as you can see from my first post :p) but I hope that him and Svenni Þór will go to the final. I love Svenni's song almost as much as Magni's song. The only flaw in Svenni's song is his "Steven Tyler" yell all of a sudden, which came out of nowhere. I don't like when something is put into a song, just to show how good the singer is (at 2.20 in the song). I felt, it didn't suit this particular song at all. I was like "what" when I first heard it....

Regarding Greta's song in this semifinal, it's not as good as "Mundu eftir mér". But I honestly think that it will be either Greta & Jónsi or Magni that will be chosen in the end, that is if Icelanders don't choose unwisely because of the sinuous rhythm of "Eilíf ást" or "Stattu upp"

Magni is great singing live so that will be in his advantage next Saturday. But honestly, Gerly, I wouldn't mind if Greta and Jónsi would represent Iceland, but if I had to choose between these two, then Magni it is;)
